Marshall comes up short in 62-52 loss to Harrisburg

Harrisburg 62, Marshall 52
HARRISBURG, S.D. — Harrisburg’s offensive power was too much to overcome for the Marshall boys basketball team in a 62-52 loss on the road Monday night.
Oliver Voigt led the Tigers with 14 points, and Patrick Morman followed with 11.
Harrisburg had four players finish in double-figure scoring, and also outperformed the Tigers in 3-point shooting and on the boards. Marshall was outrebounded 28-19, and were held to just two 3-pointers to Harrisburg’s seven.
JR Vierstraete led Marshall with five rebounds, while Noah Pieper had a team-high three steals.
The Tigers shot 41% from the field while Harrisburg shot at a 50% mark.
Marshall falls to 8-10 on the season and will next face No. 6 St. Peter on the road on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
No. 10 Dawson-Boyd 104, MACCRAY 40
DAWSON — The No. 10 Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team was firing on all cylinders and had three players score more than 20 points in a dominant 104-40 win over MACCRAY Monday night. The Blackjacks held the Wolverines to just 20 points in each half
Gunner Liebl, Jaxton Hastad and Carson Stratmoen all had the hot hands to power Dawson-Boyd.
Hastad finished with a 24-point, 11-rebound double-double on 62% shooting. He also shared a team-high six assists with Stratmoen.
Liebl led with 27 points and eight steals, along with a trio of 3-pointers and five assists. He finished the night shooting 54%.
Stratmoen shot 5 for 10 from deep and finished with 25 points, also shooting 62% from the field, along with another three steals.
Dawson-Boyd controlled all areas of the court. The Blackjacks had 10 3-pointers, 48 rebounds and 16 steals, while MACCRAY was limited to two 3s, 24 rebounds and four steals.
The Blackjacks also re-entered the top-10 in the Class A rankings this week, released Monday, after their recent 82-72 defeat over previously No. 9-ranked Wabasso last Thursday.
Dawson-Boyd moves to 15-3, and will look for its fourth-straight win when it travels to Renville County West (13-5) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Wabasso 91, LQPV 55
MADISON — Brayden Guetter exploded for 31 points to help lead the Wabasso boys basketball team to a 91-55 win over Lac qui Parle Valley Monday night. The Rabbits held the Eagles to just 21 second-half points.
Caden Frericks recorded another double-double of 17 points with a team-high 15 rebounds on 8 of 12 shooting, while Drew Kemp added in another 11 points. Kemp also facilitated Wabasso with a team-best five assists.
Jack Burns led with three steals along with his 8 points and four assists.
Guetter and Kemp also performed well from the perimeter, sharing a team-high three 3-pointers.
Wabasso forced 20 turnovers on LQPV while giving up just 11, and also outrebounded the Eagles 37-30.
The Rabbits improve to 18-2 on the season, and will next look to take on Yellow Medicine East (3-14) at home on Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
WWG 71, Windom 69
WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys basketball team prevailed for a thrilling 71-69 victory against Windom Monday night.
Drew Swanson led the way behind his 11 rebounds, three steals and four assists. Neil Kuehl also grabbed another eight boards to his four assists.
WWG has won three of its last four games, and will next look to keep the momentum going when it hosts Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey (1-17) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
No. 5 HBC 91, TMB 52
TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball team couldn’t quite keep up with No. 5 Hills-Beaver Creek in a 91-52 loss Monday night.
Griffin Zick led the Panthers with 24 points on 50% shooting. Connor Lanoue dished out a team-high 10 assists, along with his five points and five rebounds, while Jackson Kruse added in another 9 points behind a team-best 3 for 4 shooting from deep.
TMB gave up 19 turnovers, while HBC finished with eight on the night.
The Panthers (8-10) will look to get back in the win column when they travel to Minneota (5-14) on Friday with a 7 p.m. tip off.
Canby 74, YME 65
CANBY — Jace Rangaard’s 22 points helped lead the Canby boys basketball team to its second-straight win with a 74-65 defeat over Yellow Medicine East Monday night.
Four different Lancers finished in double figures, followed by Owen Peterson’s 15 points. Hunter Kack and Will Abrahamson finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively, along with Abrahamson’s team-high five rebounds.
For the Sting, Cooper McCosh led the way with 17 points, while Kia Greycloud and Gunnar Fagen followed with 13 points each.
McCosh and Fagen both finished the night with double-doubles, grabbing 12 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
Canby (4-14) will look to keep its momentum going when it hosts Minneota (5-14) on Monday at 7 p.m.
YME (3-14) will stay on the road to No. 4 Central Minnesota Christian today with a 4:15 p.m. tip off.
No. 5 HBC 81, RRC 56
LAMBERTON — A balanced scoring effort wasn’t enough to put the Red Rock Central boys basketball team on top against a strong No. 5 Hills-Beaver Creek squad in Red Rock Conference play on Saturday. The Falcons had three scorers reach double figures but fell 81-56.
Henry Stavnes led the Falcons with 18 points and five assists in the loss. Finn Batalden and Jake Erickson each scored another 10 points.
Red Rock Central falls to 6-14 with the loss and looks to bounce back when it hosts Murray County Central (11-5) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Wabasso 97, NUC 54
NEW ULM — Caden Frericks and Brayden Guetter combined for 43 points to lift the Wabasso boys basketball team over New Ulm Cathedral on Saturday.
Frericks finished with a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Guetter added 22 points to his five rebounds.
Drew Kemp and Tavyn Larson followed with 16 and 14 points, respectively, while Jack Burns had a team-high eight assists. Kemp shot a team-best 4 for 8 from deep.
Kemp and Nolan Leopold led the Rabbits with three steals a piece.
