Marshall boys season comes to an end in section quarterfinals

MANKATO — The sixth-seeded Marshall boys hockey team’s season came to an end Thursday night after suffering a 10-0 loss to No. 3 Mankato East/Loyola in the Section 3A quarterfinals in Mankato. The Tigers finish their 2025-26 campaign 7-19-0 overall.
Mankato East erupted for a six-goal second period to ultimately put Marshall out of reach, and continued to chip away further following a goal in the opening period and three more in the third. The Tigers’ defensive line faced struggles in trying to find an answer to stop or slow down the Cougars.
Marshall senior goalie McCoy Guenther finished his prep hockey career with another impressive performance of 34 saves.
Marshall was also hurt by its penalties, finishing the night with seven infractions for 17 minutes. Mankato East finished with three penalties for six minutes.
Zacharia Lang led the way with four goals for Mankato East, while Braydon Arnoldy had a team-high four assists.
The Tigers were ultimately outshot 44-11.
Marshall graduates a strong group of seniors in Nate Drown, Carson Kopitski, Xander Oey, Koda Peterson, Riley Pfannschmidt, Selby Anderson, Keegan Fossum, Gabe Widboom and Guenther.
