Brook Gunlogson is a starting guard for the Lakeview girls basketball team, and is also a track and field athlete for the Lakers. Gunlogson has played a crucial role in Lakeview’s impressive 2025-26 season campaign on the scoring and faciliating ends of the court. She also was a track and field state qualifier in the 2024 spring season as a sophomore, where she competed in the preliminary 100- and 200-meter dash races.
Q: How long have you been
playing basketball?
A: Since the fourth grade.
Q: Who is a favorite athlete you look up to?
A: Sydney McLaughlin. She’s a track athlete, and she’s just super humble.
Q: What are you plans after high school?
A: I’m going to SDSU [South Dakota State University] to major in Ag-Science. There were thoughts of doing track, but I think I would have to try to walk on if I wanted to do it there … It’s a possibility, still have to figure that out.
Q: What is your favorite school subject?
A: History. If I can take an elective, it’s going to be a history elective.
Q: What’s a favorite basketball memory you have?
A: I would say, when we go to Okoboji [in Iowa] in the summer. Every year we do that is my favorite memory. It’s like a little one-day tournament, and then the rest [of the time], we go over to the pool, we’ll do team stuff. We’ve done that every year, and I love that.
