No. 9 RRC vs.

No. 8 Luverne, No. 1 JCC

JACKSON — A minor upset victory in the first round of the Section 3A tournament wasn’t enough to keep the Red Rock Central wrestling team’s season alive on Thursday. The ninth-seeded Falcons took down No. 8 Luverne 41-36 in their postseason opener, but fell 69-6 to top-seeded Jackson County Central later in the night.

RRC had six wins via forfeit in its win over Luverne, with Jackson Radmaker’s 16-0 technical fall in 121 being the Falcons’ lone other points. Luverne, meanwhile, also won four matches via forfeit.

After advancing past Luverne, the Falcons took on the hosting top seed, JCC. Braxton Weber started the dual strong, pinning Payten Sorbel in 1:20 in the 107-pound weight class, but JCC swept the remainder of the dual.
