Tigers fall 5-1 to Owatonna
MARSHALL — The Marshall boys hockey team came up short in a 5-1 loss Saturday afternoon to Owatonna behind a four-goal opening period. The Tigers scored a goal in the final period by Jacob Allen, but it was ultimately too late to embark on a full comeback.
Marshall hung on to the Huskies closely in the second and third periods, including outshooting Owatonna 7-5 in the second.
But, Owatonna came out on fire scoring four consecutive goals in the span of five minutes to take a quick 4-0 lead.
Dylan Steilen assisted on Allen’s goal in the third. McCoy Guenther spent the day in the net, finishing with 23 saves.
Marshall was outshot 28-14 overall.
Owatonna committed six penalties in the game, all minor, while the Tigers had two.
Marshall falls to 4-12 on the season, and will look to get back in the win column when it hosts Windom (4-12) today at the Red Baron Arena with a 7 p.m. puck drop.
