Tiger gymnastics fall to New Ulm on the road

NEW ULM — The Marshall girls gymnastics team had a competitive performance in a meet against New Ulm Thursday night with five Tigers finishing in the top-6 all around, but ultimately came up short to the Eagles by a score of 131.575-116.775.
Shyann Murphy led Marshall, finishing the meet in second place with an even score of 30, only behind New Ulm’s Sophia Berger’s top finish of 33.125.
Emma Manke followed in third place with 28.325 points, while Kiera DeRuyter, Chloe Citrowske and Raya Goergen finished in fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
In the vault event, the Eagles took first and second and occupied five of the top-6 finishes. Murphy led the way in third place with a score of 8.725.
The Eagles also took first and second in bars, as Murphy also placed third to lead the Tigers with a 7.2.
Citrwoske finished with a team-high sixth-place finish in the beam event with 7.7, while Murphy led Marshall on the floor in sixth place.
New Ulm finished in the top-5 in both the beam and floor events.
Marshall will next host a home meet on Thursday at 6 p.m. with Luverne and St. Peter.
