MARSHALL — The Marshall boys and girls each placed third at the Big South Conference individual wrestling championships on Saturday. The boys were led by individual champions Lincoln Christenson and Brayden Chandler, while Esther Say was the girls’ top finisher with an individual championship as well.

The Marshall boys wrestling team finished with a total of 147 points, trailing only New Ulm Area’s 191.5 and St. Peter’s 174.5. The girls’ 102 points also trailed only St. James-Madelia’s 160.5 and Luverne’s 120.

Christenson got two pins and a technical fall en route to his 121-pound championship while Chandler earned two pins and a 6-3 decision in his 172-pound championship path.

Say pinned each of her two opponents on the day in 190.

Yasha Sleiter was Marshall’s lone runner-up of the day, splitting her matches in 142.

Marshall earned third-place finishes from Keynan Coequyt in 127, Dawson DeCamp in 145 and Tyson Louwagie in 152. On the girls side, Traeh Siekmann, Tattyana Rykhus and Anna Mar Michael placed third in 124, 130 and 148, respectively.

The Marshall boys finished with a total of nine medalists while the girls totaled seven.

Marshall next hosts Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove, Martin County and Waseca for a quadrangular on Thursday at 5 p.m.
