Swedzinski, Stratmoen help DB eke out win vs. TMB

Dawson-Boyd 70, TMB 62
TRACY — Alyssa Swedzinski and Claire Stratmoen gave the Dawson-Boyd girls basketball some efficient scoring in Thursday’s Camden Conference matchup against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, culminating in a 70-62 win for the Blackjacks.
Stratmoen was the Blackjacks’ leading scorer on the night with 25 points on 9 of 15 shooting, also draining each of her two 3-point attempts. Swedzinski also added another 18 points on 6 of 12 shooting while going 4 of 6 from 3-point range.
Gretchen Lanoue and Alli Dolan had the hot hands for TMB, meanwhile. Lanoue scored 22 points on 11 of 21 shooting and also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds. Dolan scored another 17 points on 7 of 12 shooting.
Dolan knocked down three of her six attempts from long range in the game. She was the only Panther to make a 3 in the game as the rest of the team shot a combined 0 of 12.
Alivia Estling led Dawson-Boyd on the glass with 10 rebounds and also scored 13 points. As facilitators, Laura Schreier and Kylar Hjelmeland dished out five and four assists, respectively.
Dawson-Boyd (6-7) will look to get back to .500 for the first time since their 1-0 start when they host Renville County West (3-7) on Monday at 7:15 p.m.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (3-9) has a quick turnaround, getting back on the court tonight when it wraps up its three-game homestand with a matchup against Yellow Medicine East (4-7) at 7:15 p.m.
Minneota 71, Ortonville 7
ORTONVILLE — Jaylyn Coequyt rattled off 25 points with six offensive rebounds for the Minneota girls basketball team on Thursday night in the Vikings’ 71-7 Camden Conference win over Ortonville.
Coequyt shot 9 of 19 from the field and also came away with two steals on the defensive end. Libby Sussner and Eden Meagher led the Vikings’ defense with six and five steals, respectively.
Meagher was the team’s second-leading scorer with 10 points and leading rebounder with seven boards.
Minneota (7-4) travels to Prinsburg to take on No. 6 Central Minnesota Christian (6-1) in its next game on Monday at 7 p.m.
RTR 63, Edgerton 56
EDGERTON — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton girls basketball came defeated Edgerton 63-56 Thursday night on the road in a Red Rock Conference matchup. The Knights have now won five of their last six games.
RTR (8-5) next hosts a red-hot Hills-Beaver Creek (10-1) squad on Saturday at 6 p.m.
KMS 74, Lakeview 57
COTTONWOOD — Anah Schmidt’s 20-point, 11-rebound double-double wasn’t quite enough as the Lakeview girls basketball team came up short in a 74-57 Camden Conference loss Thursday night.
Brynn Stensrud also had 19 points on 46% shooting to her four rebounds, while Brook Gunlogson led with a pair of steals.
Lakeview finished the night shooting 37% from the field.
The loss was only the Lakers third of the season, who move to 10-3 overall. Lakeview will next look to get back on track when it travels to Canby (4-7) on Saturday at 3:45 p.m.
WWG 59, SWMC 45
WESTBROOK — Leah Carter scored 18 points on Thursday night to help the Westbrook-Walnut Grove girls basketball team pick up a 59-45 win over Southwest Minnesota Christian in Red Rock Conference play.
Westbrook-Walnut Grove (6-5) hosts Adrian/Ellsworth (6-7) for its next game on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
MACCRAY 67, YME 56
GRANITE FALLS — The dynamic scoring performances of Bayli Sneller and Bailey Mortenson weren’t enough to get the Yellow Medicine East girls basketball into the win column on Thursday night as the Sting dropped 67-56 to MACCRAY in Camden Conference play.
Sneller finished as the Sting’s leading scorer with 19 points on 7 of 11 shooting, including five 3-pointers. Mortenson, meanwhile, added 16 points on 8 of 10 shooting with 12 rebounds, three blocks and four steals.
Alana Almich also blocked a pair of shots while scoring 10 points with seven rebounds.
Yellow Medicine East (4-8) returns to action tonight at 7:15 p.m. when it goes on the road to take on Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (3-9).
Adrian/Ellsworth 63, MCC 54
ELLSWORTH — The Murray County Central girls basketball team came up short 63-54 to Adrian/Ellsworth Thursday night in a Red Red Conference matchup.
Murray County Central (6-5) next competes on Saturday when it goes on the road to take on Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey (7-4) at 7:30 p.m.
HBC 79, RRC 19
HILLS — The Red Rock Central girls basketball team wasn’t able to find an edge against Hills-Beaver Creek on Thursday night, falling 19-79 in Red Rock Conference play.
Kysha Wani and Brai Olson each scored 5 points for RRC in the loss.
Red Rock Central (0-13) aims to pick up its first win of the season on Saturday when it hosts Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda (7-3) at 7 p.m.
Canby 55, LQPV 25
CANBY — The Canby girls basketball team came away with a dominant 55-25 Camden Conference win Thursday night at home.
Canby (4-7) gets back to its home court on Saturday when it hosts Lakeview (10-3) at 3:45 p.m.
