Stavnes drops 47 points in Falcons’ win over A/E

RRC 72 Adrian/Ellsworth 60

ELLSWORTH — Henry Stavnes dropped 47 points to power the Red Rock Central boys basketball team to its third win in four games with a 72-60 defeat over Adrian/Ellsworth Tuesday night in a Red Rock Conference game.

Stavnes did a bit of everything, and also led the Falcons with nine rebounds, seven steals and four assists.

Jordan Therkilsen also finished in double-figure scoring with 10 points.

Red Rock Central (5-11) travels to Tyler to take on Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (7-8) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

RTR 56, WWG 41

WESTBROOK — Juhl Drake led a balanced scoring effort from the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton boys basketball team on Tuesday night as the Knights picked up a 56-41 Red Rock Conference win over Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

The Knights also got 10 points from Jens Drake and 8 each from Lane Wichmann and Colten Thomsen.

Drew Swanson scored a game-high 18 points for WWG in the loss while Neil Kuehl and Jackson Jenniges chipped in 8 and 7, respectively.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (8-6) continues its four-game homestand on Friday when it hosts Red Rock Central (5-11) at 7:30 p.m.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove (7-7) gets back to its home court when it hosts Edgerton (10-2) on Friday at 7:15 p.m.

RCW 71, TMB 69

RENVILLE — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball team fought back from a 9-point halftime deficit, but ultimately came up just short in a 71-69 Camden Conference loss to Renville County West Tuesday night on the road. The loss marks four straight for the Panthers.

Connor Lanoue led TMB with 19 points, nine assists and six rebounds, while Griffin Zick followed with 18 points, seven assists and a team-high six steals. Lanoue and Zick also led the Panthers from deep, making four and three 3-pointers, respectively.

Jackson Kruse added in another 10 points, as Aiden Sanow finished with six rebounds.

Both the Jaguars and Panthers committed 22 turnovers on the night.

Grant Novotny led RCW with 26 points behind six 3-pointers.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (6-8) heads to Madison for its next game against Lac qui Parle Valley (1-14) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

MCC 65, HLOF 24

SLAYTON — A well-balanced scoring effort led the Murray County Central boys basketball team to a 65-24 Red Rock Conference win over Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda Tuesday night.

Wyatt Thompson and Tayden Beerman led the Rebels with 11 points each, along with Thompson’s team-high nine rebounds.

Cayden Veldhuisen and Dugan Kluis finished with 9 points each, as did Max Mathiason and Krew Schneider with another 6 points apiece.

Kluis led MCC with five steals, as did Veldhuisen with nine assists. Beerman shot a team-high 3 for 6 from the perimeter.

Carter Hanson also had another six rebounds for the Rebels.

Murray County Central (8-4) next takes on Adrian/Ellsworth (3-11) in Adrian on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

KMS 90, Minneota 47

MINNEOTA — The Minneota boys basketball team couldn’t get its momemtum going in a 90-47 Camden Conference loss to Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Tuesday night.

Leo Hennen led the Vikings with 12 points and shot 3 for 4 from the perimeter, while Ian Myhre and Tristen Sussner followed with 9 points each. Sussner also had a team-high five rebounds.

KMS outrebounded Minneota 34-25, and also had seven steals on the night to the Vikings’ two.

The Vikings struggled to find an answer to KMS’ Teagen Diederich, who finished the game with 37 points and 11 3-pointers.

Minneota (3-10) goes on the road for a matchup against Dawson-Boyd (11-2) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Lakeview 64, YME 43

COTTONWOOD — Cody Helmke’s 16-point, 10-rebound double-double helped lead the Lakeview boys basketball team to a 64-43 Camden Conference win over Yellow Medicine East Tuesday night.

Three different Lakers finished in double-figure scoring, led by Braylon Breyfogle’s 17 points who shot 2 for 3 from deep along with six boards. Trevor Tusberg followed with another 15 points to his seven rebounds.

YME was led by Kia Greycloud’s 17 points and seven rebounds. Gunner Fagen followed with another 11 points and five rebounds, while Gavin Torvik and Jack Mensink finished with six rebounds each.

Yellow Medicine East (2-11) travels to Prinsburg to take on No. 6 Central Minnesota Christian (13-1) in its next game on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Lakeview (6-10) will next travel to take on MACCRAY (5-10) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

No. 6 CMC 93, Canby 26

CANBY — The Canby boys basketball team suffered a 93-26 Camden Conference loss to No. 6 Central Minnesota Christian Tuesday night.

Hunter Kack led the Lancers with 7 points, while Brennan Johnson followed with 5 points.

Jake Midtaune had a team-high three assists, while Owen Peterson led with four rebounds to his 4 points as well.

Canby (2-12) aims to get back in the win column when it goes on the road to face off against Ortonville (5-9) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
