Rebels defeat Dragons in OT, Swenson logs double-double

ADRIAN — The Murray County Central boys basketball team came away with an exhilarating 55-52 overtime Red Rock Conference win over Adrian-Ellsworth Friday night on the road.
The Rebels and Dragons were locked at 49 at the end of regulation, while MCC faced a 3-point deficit at halftime.
Aiden Swenson’s double-double performance of 21 points and 12 rebounds along with five blocks helped MCC prevail for the win down the stretch, while Dugan Kluis followed with 16 points behind 3 of 5 shooting from deep.
A/E was led by Darwin Demarrias-Jansma, who had six 3-pointers on the night.
Wyatt Thompson finished with another 9 points for the Rebels, while Carter Hanson and Kluis each shared a team-high three steals.
MCC outrebounded A/E 31-27, and made a notable difference with eight blocks to the Dragons’ one.
Murray County Central (9-4) returns to Slayton to host Lakeview (6-11) for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
WWG 60, Edgerton 54
WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove snapped its four-game skid on Friday night by picking up a 60-54 Red Rock Conference win over Edgerton.
Jackson Jenniges led the Chargers in the win with 17 points and tied Max Wiborg with a game-high eight rebounds.
Drew Swanson facilitated the offense with seven assists while also scoring 15 points of his own. Connor Jackels also scored 12 points in the game.
Westbrook-Walnut Grove improves to 8-7 and now turns its attention to Adrian-Ellsworth (3-11) as the Chargers aim to remain above .500 on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
