No. 12 Marshall splits tri with No. 7 New Ulm, Worthington

WORTHINGTON — After moving back into the Class AA rankings this week, the No. 12 Marshall boys wrestling team came away with a split in the Worthington Triangular on Thursday night. Marshall earned a dominant 57-18 win over Worthington in the Big South tri, but fell 42-24 against No. 7 New Ulm Area.
No. 3 160 Brayden Chandler led Marshall with 12 points on the day, including a win by forfeit against Worthington and a pin in 1:52 against New Ulm Area’s Dirk Haynes.
No. 2 121 Lincoln Christenson earned 11 points for Marshall with a pin and a technical fall, Keynan Coequyt ended the day with 10 points with a pin and a major decision, and No. 9 152 Tyson Louwagie added another 9 with a forfeit and a 4-1 sudden victory win over New Ulm’s Candon Briggs.
Marshall also got pins from Levi Bullerman Jr., Levi Kraft and Colton Chandler.
Marshall is now 17-3 on the season and next competes on Saturday at the Alexandria Invitational, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
