Marshall boys get back in the win column against Redwood

MARSHALL — Four different players found the back of the net for the Marshall boys hockey team on Thursday night as the Tigers picked up a 4-1 win over Redwood Valley in Big South Conference play.
Jacob Allen scored what would be the game-winning goal for Marshall just over a minute into the second period, unassisted. Easton Joskoot also finished off a feed from Carson Kopitski in the final minutes of the period, bringing the score to 3-1 heading into the final frame.
Kirby Muelebroeck took the net for Marshall on the day, saving nine of the 10 shots he faced. For Redwood, Brecken Erikson saved 37 of the 41 shots he faced.
Kopitski put the finishing touches on the Marshall win two minutes into the third period, scoring off an assist from Allen and Jiskoot to give each of the three players a pair of points in the game.
Easton Greenwood scored the game’s first goal 7:26 into the first period, but Knox Kramer answered off an assist from Nicholas Cotner and Sam Klabunde for Redwood Valley to leave the score all tied up heading into the first intermission.
Marshall (6-15) quickly returns to the ice today to host Austin (6-13) for its third of a six-game homestand to end the regular season. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m.
