DEUBROOK, S.D. — The Canby boys basketball team snapped a nine-game skid with a 65-59 win over Arlington, S.D., on Saturday, picking up its second win of the season.
The Lancers built a 44-35 lead at halftime, and were able to maintain their advantage through a second-half push by Arlington.
The competitive game saw nine lead changes and three ties.
Canby (2-10) will look to keep its stride going when it takes on No. 6 Central Minnesota Christian (12-1) today at 7:15 p.m.
RRC 75, MCW 49
LAMBERTON — Henry Stavnes put together another dynamic scoring performance for the Red Rock Central boys basketball team on Saturday, going off for 39 points to lead the Falcons to a 75-49 non-conference win over Martin County West.
Stavnes knocked down nine 3-pointers in the win, also snagged nine steals with five rebounds and four assists.
Finn Batalden and Abe Stavnes also scored in double figures with 10 and 13 points, respectively.
Jake Erickson’s eight rebounds and Carter Therkilsen’s five assists were both team-highs.
RRC improves to 4-11 with the win and heads to Ellsworth for a game against Adrian/Ellsworth (3-9) tonight at 7:30 p.m.
No. 3 Morris Area 71, Marshall 61
MORRIS — Turnovers cost the Marshall boys basketball team when it went on the road to take on Class 2A No. 2 Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta on Saturday. The Tigers committed 13 turnovers to Morris’ seven in the game, resulting in a plus-9 edge in points off turnovers for Morris as Marshall fell 71-61.
Oliver Voigt and Patrick Morman led Marshall in scoring with 13 and 10 points in the game. As a team, Marshall shot 46% from the field and 4 of 15 from 3 in the game, while Morris shot 46% and 6 of 16.
Alex Asmus led Morris in scoring with 27 points in the game.
Marshall finished the day with a 37-24 edge on the glass, including a 13-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Levi Maeyaert grabbed seven total rebounds in the game and tied Andrew Lee with a team-high three offensive boards, while Voigt and JR Vierstraete each grabbed another six rebounds.
Voigt blocked three shots in the game.
Marshall falls below .500 to 6-7 on the season with the loss. The Tigers aim to end their three-game skid when they host Worthington (2-11) tonight at 7:15 p.m.
No. 9 Wabasso 110, Canby 42
WABASSO — Brayden Guetter dropped 30 points while Caden Frericks recorded another 19-point, 14-rebound double-double to help send the No. 9 Wabasso boys basketball team to a dominant 110-42 win over Canby Monday night.
Monday’s win marks the fourth time Wabasso has eclipsed 100 points this season, while remaining undefeated.
Five different Rabbits finished in double-figure scoring. Along with Guetter and Frericks, Drew Kemp tallied another 17 points, along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Brady and Brooks Baune finished with 10 and 11 points, respectively. Brooks also had four steals on the night. Wabasso grabbed 22 steals on the night.
Wabasso had 30 assists on its 42 made field goals, led by Kemp’s seven and Jack Burn’s six.
The Rabbits created a 54-30 halftime lead, and limited the Lancers to just 12 points in the second.
Guetter and Kemp led Wabasso at the perimeter, each making a trio of 3-pointers.
Wabasso (14-0) will next hit the road to take on Springfield (10-3) today at 7:30 p.m.
Canby (2-11) will face its second ranked opponent in 24 hours when it hosts No. 6 Central Minnesota Christian (12-1) at 7:15 p.m. today.
Ortonville 75, YME 73
GRANITE FALLS — Gunnar Fagen and Kia Greycloud’s combined 41 points weren’t enough to earn the Yellow Medicine East boys basketball team a win on Monday night as the Sting fell by one possession to Ortonville, 75-73, in Camden Conference play.
Fagen finished the night as the Sting’s leading scorer with 22 points on 9 of 16 shooting while Greycloud added another 19 points on 6 of 11 shooting.
Greycloud and Gavin Torvik each made three 3-pointers on six attempts, with Torvik finishing with 13 points.
Cooper McCosh grabbed 13 rebounds while Greycloud dished out three assists. Greycloud and Torvik each blocked a shot in the game.
Yellow Medicine East (2-10) will travel to take on Lakeview (5-10) at 7:30 p.m. today.

COTTONWOOD — Anah Schmidt and Addy Jorgenson combined for 40 points on Monday night to help the Lakeview girls basketball team eke out a 61-58 non-conference win over Murray County Central.
Schmidt shot 7 of 17 from the field for 22 points while Jorgenson added another 18 points on 7 of 11 shooting, including 3 of 5 shooting from beyond the arc. Schmidt’s 15 total and four offensive rebounds were both game-highs.
Kat Miller carried the bulk of the scoring load for MCC, shooting 7 of 16 for 20 points along with a team-high four assists. Reese Gilbertson also finished with a 10-point, 13-rebound double-double.
Ava Deacon led the MCC defense with nine steals.
Brynn Stensrud scored 15 points with seven rebounds for the Lakers.
Lakeview (13-4) will hit the road to Ortonville (0-15) today at 7:30 p.m.
Murray County Central (8-6) will host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (9-6) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Canby 53, RTR 47
TYLER — The Canby girls basketball team prevailed for a 53-47 win over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Monday night on the road behind 15 points from Brynn Kockelman.
Ava Danielson also scored 9 points for the Lancers. Brezlyn Buchert and Paisley Thooft led RTR with 16 and 10 points, respectively.
Canby (6-9) will return back to the court today, travelling to take on No. 10 Central Minnesota Christian (10-2) with a 7:15 p.m. tip off.
RTR (9-7) will travel to Murray County Central (7-7) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
YME 57, Wabasso 50
GRANITE FALLS — Bayli Sneller’s 26 points and seven rebounds led the Yellow Medicine East girls basketball team to a 57-50 win over Wabasso Monday night.
Charlotte Paslwaski paired with Sneller to add another 11 points, while Bailey Mortenson had a team-high 12 rebounds.
Alan Almich also had six boards to her 7 points.
Overall, Wabasso shot 40% from the field while YME shot 36%.
Three different players scored in double figures for the Rabbits.
Kenley Guetter led Wabasso 14 rebounds and tied Elizabeth Morin with a team-high 14 points. Ava Samyn also scored 10 points and tied Cassie Bliss for second on the team with six boards.
Morin dished out five assists with five steals.
Yellow Medicine East (6-10) will travel to Dawson-Boyd (7-8) at 7:15 p.m. today, while Wabasso (6-12) will host Springfield (6-7) today at 7:30 p.m.
