Lakeview 75, Canby 50
COTTONWOOD — Four Lakers scored in double figures on Tuesday night as the Lakeview boys basketball team ran away with a 75-50 win over Canby in Camden Conference play.
Cody Helmke spearheaded the Lakers’ balanced scoring effort with 19 points in the game, followed by 15 from Braylon Breyfogle and 12 and 10 from Nash Bigler and Trevor Tusberg, respectively.
Owen Peterson carried the scoring load for Canby, finishing with 22 points.
Lakeview (5-8) hosts its third consecutive home game on Friday, welcoming No. 7 Dawson-Boyd (9-1) into the Cottonwood gym.
Canby (1-7) also takes on Dawson-Boyd in its next game, going on the road to face off against the Blackjacks on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
WWG 70, RRC 47
LAMBERTON — Drew Swanson’s versatile effort on Tuesday night led the Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys basketball team past Red Rock Central by a score of 70-47 to pick up a Red Rock Conference victory.
Swanson scored 25 points in the game, 18 of which came in the first half. His four steals were also a team-high, his five assists tied Neil Kuehl for a team-high and his eight rebounds trailed only Max Wiborg’s nine.
Henry Stavnes led RRC as the Falcons’ only scorer in double figures, scoring 13 first-half points en route to an 18-point performance.
Jackson Jenniges also scored 14 points with seven rebounds for WWG while Wiborg poured in another 10 points.
Westbrook-Walnut Grove (6-3) gets back to its home court on Friday when it hosts Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda (2-5) at 7:15 p.m.
Red Rock Central (1-9) will look to get back in the win column on Thursday when it also takes on the Coyotes at 7:15 p.m. in Okabena.
TMB 60, YME 51
GRANITE FALLS — Griffin Zick’s 26 points helped the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball prevail for a 60-51 Camden Conference win over Yellow Medicine East Tuesday night. The Sting were led by Gavin Torvik’s 25 points.
YME and the Panthers were locked at 30-30 heading into halftime, yet TMB’s rebounding and defense made the difference down the stretch.
TMB finished with 33 rebounds and 10 steals to the Sting’s 28 boards and six steals.
Sy Sanders and Jackson Kruse each dished out five assists along with sharing a team-high eight rebounds. Zick led TMB with a trio of steals.
For YME, Torvik had four 3-pointers on the night along with five rebounds, while Kolten Blankenhagen followed with 12 points and three steals. Cooper McCosh led with 10 rebounds.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (6-4) next heads to Edgerton to do battle with Southwest Minnesota Christian (6-1) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The game marks the start of a strong stretch of schedule in which the Panthers play five straight games against teams with a 6-2 record or better, including undefeated No. 8 Central Minnesota Christian on Friday and No. 7 Dawson-Boyd on Tuesday.
Yellow Medicine East (1-8) remains on its home court to host Lac qui Parle Valley (0-11) on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
No. 8 CMC 83, No. 7 Dawson-Boyd 61
PRINSBURG — The seventh-ranked Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team couldn’t hand the No. 8 Central Minnesota Christian boys basketball team its first loss of the season on Tuesday. The Blackjacks trailed by 22 at halftime and never recovered, ending their four-game win streak with an 83-61 loss as the Bluejays cruised to their ninth straight win to start the season.
Gunner Liebl carried the bulk of the offensive load for the Blackjacks, scoring 25 points on 10 of 19 shooting from the field and knocking down three of his six attempts from beyond the arc. His four rebounds were also a team-high.
Jaxton Hastad and Carson Stratmoen contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively. Hastad’s six rebounds and three blocks were both team-highs, as were Stratmoen’s three steals.
Dawson-Boyd (8-2) returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Canby (1-7) at 7:15 p.m.
No. 10 Wabasso 93, BLHS 47
WABASSO — Brayden Guetter and Caden Frericks combined for 47 points and seven steals to power the No. 10 Wabasso boys basketball team to a 10-0 start on the season after defeating Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 93-47 Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference game.
Guetter led the way with 25 points and six assists, along with eight rebounds and two steals. Frericks followed with 22 points on 10 of 12 shooting with a team-high 15 rebounds along with four steals.
Drew Kept also had a big game with 16 points, six assists and a team-best five steals.
The Rabbits jumped to a 57-26 lead at the half, and finished with 17 assists on their 39 made field goals. They also had 39 total rebounds and 17 steals to cruise the rest of the way to victory.
Wabasso (10-0) aims to keep its undefeated start to the season rolling when it hosts Cedar Mountain (1-5) for its next game on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
RCW 57, Minneota 45
RENVILLE — The Minneota boys basketball team dropped its fourth straight game after facing turnover troubles in a 57-45 loss to Renville County West in a Camden Conference game Tuesday night on the road. The Vikings gave up 11 turnovers to the Jaguars’ one.
Ian Myhre led Minneota with 11 points along with four rebounds. Hunter Carstensen had a team-high 14 rebounds to his 8 points, while Tristen Sussner added in another 7 points and three assists. Easton Johnston led with three steals.
RCW ended the night shooting 38% from the field and held Minneota to a 27% mark, and both had five made 3-pointers.
Four different Jaguars finished in double-digit scoring.
Minneota (2-7) gets back to its home court on Friday when it hosts MACCRAY (3-8) at 7 p.m.
Edgerton 57, MCC 53
SLAYTON — A dominant performance on the offensive glass from Aidan Swenson still left the Murray County Central boys basketball team shy of a win over Edgerton on Tuesday, with the Dutchmen eking out a 57-53 win over the Rebels.
Swenson finished the day with seven offensive and 17 total rebounds, as well as two blocks on the defensive end. His 9 points ranked third on the team behind Tristan Behrends’ 13 and Cayden Veldhuisen’s 15.
Behrends came away with five steals on the defensive end and tied Carter Hanson and Dugan Kluis with a team-high three assists. Behrends did not commit a turnover in the game.
Murray County Central (5-3) heads out on the road on Friday, taking on Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey (1-7) at 7:30 p.m.
RTR 72, MLAC 38
TYLER — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton boys basketball team extended its winning streak to four games on Tuesday, earning a 72-38 Red Rock Conference win over Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey.
Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (6-4) aims to hand the first loss of the season to No. 6 Hills-Beaver Creek (7-0) when the Knights host the Patriots on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
