Minneota 73, Dawson-Boyd 50
MINNEOTA — Jaylyn Coequyt’s 27-point, 15-rebound double-double and five steals led the Minneota girls basketball team to a 73-50 victory Tuesday night. Sarah Gruenes and Eden Meagher also scored 10 points apiece.
Along with their efficient shooting, the Vikings pulled away behind a strong defensive effort with 44 rebounds and 14 steals, to the Blackjacks’ 22 rebounds and six steals.
For Minneota, Libby Sussner also grabbed seven rebounds while Autum Anderson and Gruenes also had two steals each.
The Blackjacks were led by Alivia Estling’s 18 points, five rebounds and two steals. Claire Stratmoen followed with 16 points and shot 3 of 5 from deep, and led the team with four steals. Alyssa Swedzinski had a team-high six rebounds, while Kylar Hjelmeland had another five boards.
Overall, Dawson-Boyd shot 27% from the field but had a strong showing at the foul line, going 13 of 19. Minneota finished with a 47% shooting mark, and shot 5 for 7 in free throws.
Dawson-Boyd (7-8), who won its prior three games straight before Tuesday, will look to get back in the win column when it hosts Yellow Medicine East (5-9) next Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
Minneota (8-5) will also next face the Sting on their court this Friday with a 6 p.m. tipoff.
RTR 57, HLOF 36
TYLER — Brezlyn Buchert went off for 18 points on Tuesday night as the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton girls basketball team picked up a 57-36 win over Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda in Red Rock Conference play.
Buchert scored 11 of her 18 points in the first half. Jilian Schoenfeld and Paisley Thooft each also scored 10 points in the game.
Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (9-6) heads to Lamberton for its next game against Red Rock Central (0-16) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
MCC 62, RRC 32
LAMBERTON — The Murray County Central girls basketball team ended its three-game slide on Tuesday night with a 62-32 win over Red Rock Central in Red Rock Conference play.
Kate Blankenship was at the core of the Rebels’ scoring success, finishing with 17 points on 5 of 12 shooting while Ava Deacon and Kat Miller each added another 11.
Miller finished the game as MCC’s leading rebounder, tallying eight total boards with six coming on the offensive glass. Her five steals were also second only to Ava Deacon’s six.
Brai Olson led RRC with 15 points while Paige Wondercheck contributed nine rebounds, three assists and 3 points.

Red Rock Central (0-16) aims to pick up its first win of the year when it hosts Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (9-6) for the third of four straight home games for the Falcons on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Murray County Central (7-6) returns to Slayton on Friday to host Westbrook-Walnut Grove (8-6) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
WWG 58, Edgerton 48
WESTBROOK — Leah Carter erupted for 21 points for the Westbrook-Walnut Grove girls basketball team on Tuesday night, propelling the Chargers to a 58-48 Red Rock Conference win over Edgerton.
Carter scored 11 of her points in the first half and 10 in the second. Hadley Jenniges added to the WWG effort with 12 points while Natasha Wahl chipped in another 9.
Westbrook-Walnut Grove (8-6) travels to Slayton for a road matchup against Murray County Central on Friday (7-6) at 7:30 p.m.
