TMB/WWG places 3rd in Benson
BENSON — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys wrestling team placed third overall at the Braves Classic Tournament in Benson on Saturday, with Logan Petersen, David Schuh and Lawton Verlinde all placing first in their respective classes.
TMBWWG finished with 164.5 points, only behind Pipestone Area and Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in second and first place. KMS finished on top with 225.5 points. Wabasso placed fifth with 157 points.
Petersen took first in the 121 class, as did Schuh in the 139 and Verlinde in 189. TMB/WWG also had a pair of runner-up finishes with Taylor Squires in the 127 class and Nolan Verlinde in the 145.
Wabasso was led by Brillin Wagner’s championship finish in the 215, along with Zeke Olson and Zach Skoblik each taking second in the 172 and 133 classes, respectively.
Kullen Steen, Lane Taylor, Nathan Riley and Paxton Huhnerkoch all had third-place finishes in the 114, 139, 145 and 152 classes. TMB/WWG’s Weston Marten also placed third in the 133 class.
TMB/WWG will next compete at the New Richmond Tournament on Friday and Wabasso will host a series of duals on Saturday against Adrian, Minneota and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.
