Stelter, Vierstraete, Arndt set for prep ASG

MARSHALL — A trio of local prep athletes will be representing southwest Minnesota in the Minnesota State Football All-Star Game at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Saturday, Dec. 13. Marshall earned a pair of selections in linebacker Andrew Stelter and defensive end JR Vierstraete, while Minneota earned another in defensive lineman Kyson Arndt. All three will be playing for the South All-Stars.

Stelter, Vierstraete and Arndt all played both ways for their respective high schools, though they are specifically listed for one side of the ball for the All-Star game. Stelter was also the leading running back for the Tigers — earning a District Most Valuable Player selection in the process–Vierstraete was a tight end in addition to his status as the district’s Defensive Lineman of the Year, and Kyson Arndt was a dominant right tackle for the Vikings.

The game, which is divided between North and South All-Stars, is slated to kick off at 1 p.m. This marks the 63rd iteration of the game, which was first placed in 1945 and has become an annual tradition since 1974.

The South All-Stars will be coached by Stewartville’s Garrett Mueller while the North is coached by North Branch’s Justin Voss.

Starting at $3.95/week.
