Marshall girls hockey fall 2-1 in overtime on the road
BLAKE — The Marshall girls hockey team came up just short in an overtime 2-1 loss to Blake Friday evening on the road in a competitive fight.
The loss marks the first time this season the Tigers have dropped two consecutive games.
The two teams continued to feed off one another throughout the entirety of the game, as Marshall slightly outshot Blake 30-24.
Brooklyn Mauch scored Marshall’s lone goal in the final period in the 12th minute, with an assist from Peyton DeMuth to tie the game up 1-1 and force an overtime period.
Blake scored its first goal of the night in the second period, and scored the go-ahead goal in overtime to end the game.
Lily Stelter spent the night in the goal, finishing with 22 saves.
Marshall entered the night also coming off a battle-tested 3-2 loss to Westonka on the road on Saturday, just its second loss of the season.
The Tigers (11-3) return home to the Red Baron Arena today to host Minnesota River at 3 p.m. The boys hockey team will play just prior at 1 p.m.
