WABASSO — Camryn Irlbeck made her plans to continue playing volleyball at the collegiate level official on Thursday. The Wabasso senior signed her letter of intent to continue her education at Minnesota West Community and Technical College as a member of the school’s volleyball team.

During her senior season, Irlbeck became the third player in Wabasso program history to reach 200 career blocks. She tallied 54 total blocks over the course of her senior season, 19 of which were solo blocks, to pace the Rabbits.

In addition to her efforts as a blocker, Irlbeck tallied 182 kills on a .245 hitting percentage and made 47 digs with 28 service aces.

Over the course of her four seasons with the team, the Rabbits were consistently a strong team in one of Minnesota’s most competitive sections. In addition to floating in and out of the Class A coaches poll top 10 throughout her time with the team, Wabasso claimed its first Tomahawk Conference title since 2018 during Irlbeck’s sophomore season in 2023 and finished as the runner-up in 2024. The Rabbits went 67-47 over her four years with the team.

In addition to her achievements as a volleyball player, Irlbeck has also been a key contributor for the Wabasso girls wrestling and softball teams. Irlbeck cracked the top 10 individual rankings for her weight class at points in her junior wrestling season and earned Independent All-Area second team honors in softball season while helping the Rabbits break a 15-year state softball tournament drought in the spring season.

During her junior softball season, Irlbeck put together an .834 OPS with two home runs, 16 RBIs and six stolen bases. The Rabbits went 19-8 on the year, claiming a Section 3A championship after falling in the section final back-to-back years.

The Minnesota West Lady Jays compiled a 35-5 record this year, reaching the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III championship game. The Lady Jays swept each of their first five postseason matches before falling to Dallas College Eastfield in the championship round.

Irlbeck will be joining a team full of local area talent, including five alums of Independent-area schools in Marshall’s Lydia Moore, Westbrook-Walnut Grove’s Olivia Locke, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton’s Alivia Jensen, Murray County Central’s Kate Slettum and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton’s Ally Nelson. Slettum was named a NJCAA Division III All-American after logging 1,300 set assists with 348 digs and 133 kills.

Starting at $3.95/week.
