Drake, Bigler combine for 36 points, 13 steals in Marshall win

Marshall 73, Belle Plaine 43
BELLE PLAINE — Reese Drake and Taleigha Bigler combined for 36 points and 13 steals to power the No. 3 Marshall girls basketball team to its third straight win to start the season 73-43 over Belle Plaine Friday night.
Drake led the way with a team-high 23 points to her six steals, four assists and six rebounds, while Bigler followed with 13 points, three assists, six rebounds and team-best seven steals.
Avery Schneekloth also tallied 17 points and led the Tigers with seven boards, and grabbed another two steals.
Marshall was everywhere on the defense end with a team collective 20 steals, while Belle Plaine had just two on the night.
Marshall also protected the glass with 36 rebounds, 27 of which were defensive, as did Belle Plaine with a total of 36 rebounds.
Danielle Nubile also scored in double figures for Marshall with 11 points, along with her trio of steals and five rebounds.
Overall, Marshall shot 40% from the field and held Belle Plaine to just 27%.
Marshall (3-0) next returns home to host Worthington (2-1) on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. before having the tall task of hosting Class 4A No. 1 Hopkins on Thursday, also at 7:15 p.m.
