HUTCHINSON — Brooklyn Mauch recorded her first hat trick performance of the season to help lead the Marshall girl’s hockey team to a dominant 6-1 victory over Hutchinson on the road Tuesday night, as the Tigers continue their 4-0 start on the season.

Marshall outperformed Hutchinson on the offensive end by a large margin with 53 shots on goal while limiting the Tigers to 13. Lily Stelter again held down the net with a .923 save percentage on the night.

Along with Mauch’s three goals, Peyton DeMuth added a pair while Ava Kolander had one.

The first period started off competitive before Marshall took off, with Marshall holding a slight 8-6 edge in shots on goal.

DeMuth got the scoring started with her first goal coming just minutes into the game off an Abbey Foley assist. Mauch brought in her first goal eight minutes later with an assist from DeMuth.

Hutchinson scored its lone goal of the night with just over a minute to go in the opening period, cutting into a 2-1 deficit.

Yet, Marshall got red-hot with four second-period goals to build a 6-1 lead, eventually becoming the final score as both teams remained scoreless in the third.

Mauch scored her second goal less than a minute into the second period with an assist from Lucie Pearson, as Peyton DeMuth followed that up with another goal unassisted.

DeMuth connected with Mauch once again midway through the period to secure Mauch’s hat trick, giving the Tigers a 5-1 lead.

Marshall’s final goal of the night came from Kolander, with assists from Mauch and Foley. DeMuth and Foley each tallied a pair of assists.

All of Marshall’s goals were scored on even strength with the exception of DeMuth’s second.

It was also a low-penalty matchup, with Hutchinson recorded four to Marshall’s one.

Marshall (4-0) will remain on the road for its third of a five-game road trip when it travels to Worthington (0-2) on Thursday with a 7 p.m. puck drop.

Starting at $3.95/week.
