Tigers seeded 4th in 2AA team tennis tournament

MARSHALL — The Marshall girls tennis team was announced on Monday as the No. 4 seed in the Section 2AA team tournament. The Tigers will host fifth-seeded New Ulm on Monday at 4 p.m. at Marshall High School.
When the Tigers and Eagles met during the regular season, New Ulm defeated the Tigers by a score of 4-3. The match was broken up over two days, finishing up on Sept. 23 after rain forced the match to be postponed after it began.
Marshall closed out its regular season on Tuesday with a 4-3 win over Willmar, improving its record to 7-10 overall with a 2-4 Big South Conference record.
Emry Jans and Julia Pafko won their doubles No. 3 match against Leiah Arends and Melanie Rhonda, overcoming a 7-5 first-set loss with a 7-6 (5) second-set win and a 7-5 win in the tiebreaker. Peyton and Eme DeMuth also defeated Annika Dahl and Grace Kalkbrenner 6-3, 6-1 in doubles No. 2.
Brooklyn Mauch swept Kennedy Mara in a tightly contested top singles match, winning 7-6 (3), 6-4 while Kyra Bailey won singles No. 2 6-2, 6-3.
