Six Marshall runners named All-Conference at Big South Championships
LUVERNE — The Marshall boys and girls cross country teams both earned a second-place finish at the Big South Conference Championship meet Tuesday afternoon, with six runners being named to the All-Conference teams.
Jasmine Murphy, Katelyn Leibfried, Claire Kruse, Sam Deutz, Noland Munson and Aidan Schuerman all finished individually in the top-10 in their respective races, earning All-Conference.
Kaitlyn Soupir, Shyann Murphy, Isaac Leibfried and Corbin Leibfried also each earned an All-Conference honorable mention, for finishing in the top-17.
Marshall boys finished the day with 47 points, behind Belle Plaine, as the girls took second with 43 points while St. Peter took first with 42.
Individually on the boy’s side, Deutz led the way with a time of 16:42.89 for a fourth-place finish. Munson, Schuerman and Isaac Leibfried followed in eighth, ninth and 11th place, respectively.
Munson ran a time of 17:23.88, while Schuerman and Isaac Leibfried followed close behind with a 17:28.96 and 17:29.65.
Corbin Leibfried and Charles Mueller-Thompson finished the day in 15th and 20th, respectively.
There were 63 runners collectively on the boys side.
For the girl’s race, Murphy led the way with a time of 19:09.12 for a runner-up finish out of 51 runners. She followed only behind St. Peter’s Keria Friedrich, who ran an 18:07.39.
Katelyn Leibfried followed in fourth place after running a 19:30.07, and Kruse came in eighth with a time of 20:07.23. Soupir and Murphy followed in 12th and 17th, while Madysson Hasert finished the day in 18th.
Marshall will next head to the Section 2AA race, to take place next Thursday in Mankato.
