MLAC/RRC girls, MCC/F boys take first in RRC meet
FULDA — The Murray County Central/Fulda boys and the Mountain Lake Area Comfrey/Red Rock Central girls cross country teams each took first in the 5,000 meter race at the Red Rock Conference meet Monday afternoon. The girls finished with a team score of 34, and the boys finished with 28 points.
On the boys side, MLAC/RRC’s Cooper Evers led all runners and finished in first with a time of 17:18 out of 47 individual runners.
Following MCC/F, MLAC/RRC as a team finished in second place with 32 points while Adrian/Ellsworth took third, and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton came in fourth with 108 points.
MCC/F’s Aiden Appel had a runner-up finish with a 17:25 time, as Joseph Torres followed in third place for MLAC/RRC at 17:35.
Alexander Betz and Matthew Stapek took fifth and sixth place, respectively, for MCC/F with times of 18:04 and 18:14.
On the girls side, Laiken Farris again came out on top with a first place finish after running a 20:03.
The MCC/F girls team took third place collectively with 59 points, and RTR finished in fourth with 70 points.
Katie Johnson for MLAC/RRC had a runner-up finish with a time of 20:17, and MCC/F’s Mara Clarke finished with a time of 21:02 for fourth place. Summer Labrune led the Knights tied for fourth place with Clarke.
MCC/F and RTR will next race at the Section 3A Championship next Thursday at the Madison Country Club. MLAC/RRC will head to the Section 2A Championship on Thursday in Baylor Park.
