Deutz breaks own record again in Marshall win over St. Peter
MARSHALL — The Marshall swim and dive team cruised past St. Peter in a dual meet Tuesday afternoon 127-58, capitalized by Autumn Deutz new school six-dive record that she previously beat just a week prior.
Deutz finished with a score of 198.00, beating out her 195.40 last Tuesday against Montevideo.
The Tigers had numerous first-place and top finishers throughout the entire meet, breaking through with a lead early on.
Tatum Lewis, Aaliyah Podratz, Finley Pelz and Grace Rokeh took first place in the girls 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:03.40.
Hailey Larsen, Joleigh Kesteloot and Amber Castor all placed first, second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle race. Larsen finished with a time of 2:14.52, while Kestellot and Castor followed closely behind with times of 2:24.12 and 2:25.92.
Deutz also had a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.20, beating out St. James’ Kaelyn Loula in second place with a 27.35.
Pelz, Larsen and Leah Hybbert placed second, third and fourth in the 100-yard butterfly race, while Rokeh took first in the 100-yard freestyle after swimming a time of 59.84. She was also the only one to swim under a minute in the event.
Pelz, Lewis and Mauren Brusven carried Marshall in the 500-yard freestyle for the top three placements. Pelz took first with a 5:38.15, while Lewis followed with a time of 6:08.66 and Brusven finished with a 6:19.36.
In the 200-yard freestyle event, Detuz, Hybbert, Rokeh and Finley teamed up for a time of 1:50.41 to give the Tigers another first-place finish.
Lewis also swam a time of 1:09.80 in the 100-yard backstroke for first place.
Podratz and Alex Brown took first and second in the 100-yard breaststroke race, swimming a 1:18.79 and 1:19.14, respectively.
Marshall capped off the meet with another first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with the team of Deutz, Larsen, Hybbert and Podratz in a time of 4:09.43.
The Tigers will next travel to Tri-City United on Saturday for an invitational at 1 p.m.
