LITTLE FALLS — Sophomore Claire Kruse put together a time of 20:31.8 at the Lucky Lindy Invitational at Little Falls Golf Course on Thursday. The time gave her a 21st-place finish in the field of 106 and helped the Marshall shorthanded girls cross country team to a seventh-place finish out of 14 teams.

Marshall was without one of its top runners on the day in Katelyn Leibfried, a state medalist last year. Still, the Tigers’ depth showed as Marshall still put together a quality finish in a stacked field.

Jasmine Murphy and Kaitlyn Soupir placed 38th and 42nd for Marshall on the day, Murphy coming in at 21:43.3 and Soupir at 22:07.5. Brooklyn Purrington also placed 55th at 23:01.0.

Madysson Hasert rounded out the Marshall scorers in 64th place at 23:21.2.

While not contributing to the team score, Jenna Sanders also ran a personal-best time of 24:01.8 to place 75th in the meet while Makayla Hasert set a season-best time of 25:12.3 to place 89th.

The Marshall cross country team will next compete at the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota at Les Bolstadt Golf Course, on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 9:30 a.m.

Starting at $3.95/week.
