Minneota outgains Lakeview by 300 yards in 53-0 win

COTTONWOOD — The top-ranked Minneota football team outgained the Lakeview Lakers by over 300 yards on Friday night to pull away early for a 53-0 victory. The Vikings scored all but 7 of their points in the first half, including 38 in the second quarter.
Brock Fier got the Vikings rolling in the second with a 15-yard touchdown run and a 27-yard touchdown reception. The Vikings also scored on a pair of goalline runs from Adam Devlaeminck and Kyson Arndt in the frame, and got a 45-yard field goal by Ian Myhre to go into the locker room with a 46-0 advantage.
Kellen Bradley finished the night as the Vikings’ leading rusher, taking seven carries for 60 yards with a 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Jackson Lacek, Easton Johnston and Randy Sorenson each also had three carries for 43, 40 and 30 yards, respectively.
Bradley was also one of two Vikings with an interception on the defensive side of the ball, joining Quinton Anderson. Bradley’s five solo tackles were also a team-high and his two tackles for loss tied Sorenson and Hunter Carstensen for a team-high. Carstensen recorded the game’s lone sack.
As a team, Minneota finished the day with a 238-55 edge in rushing yards and a 147-25 advantage in passing yards.
Johnston got the Vikings off to a hot start, returning the game’s opening kickoff 89 yards to the house for a 7-0 lead.
Tristen Sussner completed 11 of his 17 pass attempts for two touchdowns and an interception in the game, while Owen Myrvik and Owen Dalager each also took snaps under center for the Vikings, combining for 32 yards on three attempts.
Landon Esping caught four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown to lead the Minneota receiving corps. Fier and Myhre each also racked up 27 receiving yards, while Tim DeSmet added another 25 yards.
Chance Kozel accounted for 43 of Lakeview’s 55 rushing yards on 14 carries, while Breylon Breyfogle was the Lakers’ leading receiver with one catch for 16 yards. Quarterback Logan Herrick completed two of his 10 attempts for 25 yards and two interceptions, but led Lakeview defensively with six solo and 10 total tackles.
Conner Moseng came down with an interception on the defensive end for Lakeview.
Minneota (4-0) gets back to K.P. Kompelien Field on Friday to host MACCRAY (1-2) at 7 p.m.
Lakeview (2-2) will look to get back on track when it hosts Yellow Medicine East (0-3) on Friday at 7 p.m.
