Johnson, Evers finish 1st and 2nd at Eagle Invite

WINDOM — Katie Johnson led all runners in the girl’s 5,000 meter race for the Mountain Lake Area Comfrey/Red Rock Central cross country team, while MLAC/RRC took third place collectively. Cooper Evers on the boys side for MLAC/RRC earned a second-place finish, with the team placing second.
In the boy’s race, Windom Area took first with 43 points, while MLAC/RRC followed close behind with a 68. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton placed sixth of eight teams with a team score of 122.
Individually, Evers followed eight seconds behind with a time of 17:43.04 for his runner-up finish. Windom’s Bryce Green took first with a 17:35.31 time.
Joseph Torres was MLAC/RRC’s other top-10 finisher, running an 18:26.21 for fifth place.
Jaxter Pfarr and Weston Marten led the Panthers’ boys team, coming in 19th and 21st respectively.
The boys race had 71 individual racers.
On the girls side, Johnson led the way of all runners with a 21:22.77, with time to spare ahead of St. James’ Katelyn Friesen who came in second with a 21:46.77.
Julia Brinkman also had a good race with a time of 23:00.59 to earn sixth place.
For TMB, Miranda Mischke and Lainey Jackels came in 10th and 11th, respectively. Mischke ran a 23:47.97, and Jackels followed close behind with a 24:02.10 of 54 individual racers.
As a team, MLAC/RRC placed third of six teams with a score of 70, and TMB came in sixth with a 129.
MLAC/RRC will next compete at the Tri-Conference Showdown on Saturday, Sept. 27 in Voss Park.
TMB will next take to the course next Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Redwood Valley Invitational at the Redwood Falls Gold Course.
LQPV/DB boys, girls take sixth at Bank Invite
MILBANK, S.D. — Both the Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd boys and girls cross country teams took sixth place at The Bank Invite over the weekend on Saturday at the Whetstone Creek Golf Course in Milbank, S.D.
The boys team finished with 106 points out of 12 qualifying teams, and the girls finished with 96 points out of 11 competing teams.
In the boys race, Collin Rosendahl and Tanner Kalas both led LQPV/DB with an 11th and 12th place finish of 70 runners.
Rosendahl ran a time of 18:07.32, and Kalas followed seconds behind with an 18:13.52.
Madison’s Dylan Gerdes led all runners with a 16:31.23.
On the girls side, Brynn Gloege ran a 21:17.58 for 14th place of 71 individual runners. Chloe Gloege and Laura Schreier followed in 29th and 30th place, respectively, with a 22:34.73 and 22:35.37.
LQPV/DB has a quick turnaround and will host a meet today for the second LQPV/DB Invite at the Madison Country Club.
The meet will host 15 teams, including Canby/Minneota, Murray County Central/Fulda, Lakeview, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and Yellow Medicine East. Races are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
