Tiger tennis kicks off prep sports season
GLENCOE — The Marshall girls tennis team kicked off the 2025-26 prep sports season on Saturday with a dual at Glencoe-Silver Lake. The Tigers earned a pair of singles wins from Cora Medina and Ilianna Bautista, but fell 5-2 in the match.
Bautista took on Breckynn Lindeman in singles No. 4. While Bautista dropped the first set 6-4, she bounced back with a 6-3 win in the second before claiming a 10-7 tiebreaker victory.
In singles No. 3, Medina swept Summer Blazinski, eking out a 7-5 win in the first set before claiming a 6-3 win in the second.
Kathryn Coudron took over in singles No. 1 for Marshall this season, but couldn’t take home a win in her debut in the slot. She fell 6-4, 6-4 to GSL’s Abby Christensen.
Kyra Bailey rounded out the Marshall doubles matchups with a 6-3, 6-0 loss to Eva Stuewe.
Marshall freshman Emry Jans and Paige Doose put up Marshall’s best fight in the doubles matches, but lost 6-4, 6-4 to Gabi Hudson and Abby Eden in doubles No. 3.
Emry Weller and Jazilyn Steinburg-Jones lost 6-3, 6-0 to Jadyn Stuewe and Finley Guerrero in the top doubles match, while Berlin Kass and Julia Pafko fell 6-2, 6-1 to Aby Smith and Addi Nott in doubles No. 2.
Marshall returns to action today at 2:30 p.m., hosting Hutchinson for its home opener at Marshall High School.
