Marshall volleyball sweeps Chanhassen on the road
CHANHASSEN — In its second match in two days, the Marshall volleyball team continues its strong start to the season after it swept Chanhassen Friday evening for its first road match of the year. The Tigers defeated the Storm in sets of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-22.
Although facing a tough opponent that stayed within reach nearly the entire night, Marshall’s seniors helped keep the Tigers on pace.
Reese Drake finished the night with a team-high 17 kills to her nine digs, and Avery Fahl tallied eight kills, two blocks and six digs. Her and Brooke Gillingham shared a team-best of 16 assists.
Kez Pinckney led the defense with 10 digs, while Kyah Pinckney recorded another six.
Julia Fahl followed with another seven kills, while Nora Holmgren also finished with five.
Trinity Brownlee had a pair of service aces on the night, while Drake, Kez and Avery each had one apiece as well.
Marshall (2-0), who was ranked first in the Class AAA preseason poll by the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association, will look for its third-straight win to start off the year when it returns home to host Waseca on Tuesday with a 7:15 p.m. first serve.
