Lamberton cruises past Stark in Tomahawk East action, 9-1

STARK — Quintyn Vold struck out 14 batters over seven innings on the hill for the Lamberton Long Sox on Tuesday night in a 9-1 Tomahawk East League win over Stark.

During his time on the mound, Vold limited Stark to three hits and no walks. He gave up just one earned run on the night.

Lamberton took the lead right away in the first inning. Luke Willhite and Will Carlson started the lineup off strong with a single and a walk, and Josh Altermatt hit a two-run single to give the Long Sox an early lead.

After going three-up, three-down in the second, Willhite singled again  to start another rally for Lamberton. He scored on a Neil Eichten sacrifice fly, and Altermatt singled before scoring on a Seth Guetter RBI single with two outs.

Carter Benz closed out the game on the mound for Lamberton, throwing two scoreless innings without allowing a hit or a walk.

Lamberton added another pair of runs in the eighth when Altermatt and Hudsen Jenniges each walked and Guetter hit a two-run single.

Lamberton added three more insurance runs in the ninth on a two-run double from Altermatt and an RBI double from Jenniges. 

Lamberton improves to 12-6 on the season and hosts Gibbon for its next game on Sunday at 5 p.m.
