Smith, Sneller named Camden Conference MVPs

The Camden Conference announced its All-Conference baseball and softball teams on Friday. Yellow Medicine East’s Bayli Sneller highlighted the softball selections by earning the title of Conference Most Valuable Player, while Tracy-Milroy-Balaton pitcher Trevor Smith earned the honor for baseball.

Sneller was a force to be reckoned with in the circle for YME. She threw 133 of the team’s 137 1/3 innings on the season, maintaining a 2.32 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP with 194 strikeouts on 41 walks.

As a batter,Sneller’s .352 batting average and .897 OPS were both second only to All-Conference teammate Alana Almich, who reached .391 and 1.143 marks.Sneller also had 18 RBIs and a home run while Almich tallied 16 RBIs with two homers.

YME’s Brianna Nelson and Ella Cherveny were also selected to the All-Conference team, giving them a total of four selections. Only Lac qui Parle Valley had more, with six, while Minneota/Canby earned three nods for Madison Hennen, Kiersyn Hulzebos and Dakota Pesch.

On the baseball side, Trevor Smith pitched 51 2/3 innings on the season for TMB, compiling a 2.30 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP with 78 strikeouts on 12 walks.

At the plate, Smith’s .415 batting average and 1.067 OPS were both team-highs.His 14 RBIs were good for fourth on the team, trailing Noah Knakmuhs and David Schuh’s 16 and Griffin Zick’s 15. Knakmuhs was also selected to the All-Conference team.

Dawson-Boyd led the conference with five selections, including Nathan Hansen, Tygan Long, Kameron Sather, Grayson Olson and Beau Johnson. YME also earned three nods for Braden Nelson, Gunnar Fagen and Eric Jimenez.
