Amateur baseball roundup June 23, 2025
APPLETON — A pair of two-run RBIs from Tate Walerius and Kaden Christensen in the top of the 10th inning and a team-high four runs batted in by Austin Buysse helped the Minneota Mudhens prevail for a 12-8 win over the Appleton A’s Sunday afternoon.
After being held scoreless the first three innings, Appleton embarked on a five-run fourth inning to take a 5-4 edge. Minneota scored two runs in each the second and fourth inning to take the game’s first lead.
After Minneota scored another four runs in the sixth inning from Jack Lacek, Peyton Gillund, Buysse and AJ Myhre, Appleton tied the game up in the bottom of the eighth inning, 8-8, with a trio of runs.
After a scoreless ninth, Minneota stepped up to the plate in the top of the extra inning to ultimately seal the win with another string of active hits.
Buysse and Myhre scored off a Walerius RBI double to left field with a ground ball.
Buysse first got on base with a single line drive to left field, and Myhre hit a single fly ball to right field.
Walerius and Ryan Dalager, who initially was walked, also ran home off a Christensen RBI single to center field with two outs, giving the Mudhens a four-run advantage.
With Appleton looking to force the game to an 11th inning or to walk it off, Dalager tossed a pair of strikeouts while Myhre caught an infield fly ball at first base to end the game and save the win.
Buysse, Walerius and Easton Greenwood all shared a team-high three hits, and Adam Dalager, Christensen and Walerius followed Buysse’s four with a pair of RBIs each.
