Webskowski leads Marshall to division meet win

WASECA — Marshall’s Dayton Webskowski finished with the day’s lowest score of 9-over 80 to place first individually of 40 golfers in an 18-hole Big South Conference girls golf meet at Waseca Lakeside Club Monday afternoon. The Tigers also finished in first place as a team out of seven with a collective score of 404.
Marshall finished 19 strokes ahead of Worthington, who took second place with a 423.
Ali Pederson followed Webskowski closely behind with a third place finish of 96, including a birdie on hole 15. Waseca’s Madison Rasche took second place after carding an 84.
Also placing individually for the Tigers, Isabella Gossen and Anna Thor shared 13th place with a 43-over 114. Maddi Panka followed in 17th with a 115, and Ava Weller finished with a 124 for 28th.
Marshall will return to the green on Thursday at the St. Cloud Country Club for an invite with St. Cloud, beginning at 9 a.m. The boys team will follow at 2 p.m.
CAMDEN NORTH MEET
DAWSON — The Dawson-Boy girls golf team earned a first-place finish, with Lindsey Lund scoring the lowest individually, in a Camden Conference North 9-hole meet of five teams at the Dawson Golf Course Monday afternoon. The boys team finished as runners-up, and Drew Hjelmeland took second place individually.
On the girls side, the Blackjacks carded a 24-over 164 as a team, 25 strokes ahead of Lac qui Parle Valley’s second-place 189 finish. Community Christian took third place, while MACCRAY and Ortonville did not have enough qualifiers to field a team score.
Lund carded a 1-over 36 to finish in first place of 20 individual golfers, while Alyssa Swedzinski, Kylar Hjelmeland and Claire Stratmoen all placed fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Swedzinski carded a 6-over 41, while Kylar shot an 8-over 43 and Stratmoen a 9-over 44.
Laura Schreier finished the day with a 50, earning an 11th-place finish.
For the boys team, the Blackjacks finished five strokes behind Central Minnesota Christian’s 154 first place finish, to place second at the meet with a 159.
Lac qui Parle Valley’s Carson Besonen shot a 1-under 34 to place first of 32 golfers, as Drew followed one stroke behind with a 35 for a runner-up finish. He also carded an eagle on hole three and a birdie on the seventh hole.
Carson Stratmoen finished in a three-way tie for fifth place with a 4-over 39, with a birdie on the first hole.
Evan Menning, Evan Mork, Landon Kemen and Jameson Garcia finished the meet 11th, 13th, 27th and 31st, respectively.
The Dawson-Boyd boys team will next head to the Valley Golf Course in Willmar on Thursday for a multi-team meet, while both the girls and boys team will compete at the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Invitational on Friday at the Tyler Golf Club. The girls will begin around 10:20 a.m., with the boys to follow behind with an 11 a.m. start.
