Windom 4, M/C 1

FAIRMONT — The Minneota/Canby softball team couldn’t get its bats going in a matchup against Windom at a tournament in Fairmont on Saturday. The Vikings fell into an early hole and never crawled out, falling 4-1 after being limited to three hits in the game.

Windom scored the go-ahead run on an error with two outs in the third. The Eagles added another pair of insurance runs on bases-loaded walks in the sixth, but the insurance was unnecessary as Minneota/Canby never found its way back to the scoreboard.

Madison Hennen pitched all six innings for the Vikings, striking out 12 batters while giving up a pair of earned runs on nine walks and three hits.

Trailing 1-0, Minneota/Canby scored its lone run when Hennen led off the second with a single and scored on a Danni Kockelman single.

WABASSO — Aylah Jenniges’ solid pitching performance and the Rabbits’ consistent hitting helped the Wabasso softball team claim a 7-5 win over Murray County Central to open their home softball tournament on Saturday.

With two outs, Schneider reached on an error to score Wajer and bring the tying run to the plate, but Jenniges induced a ground out to seal the Wabasso win.
