FAIRMONT — The Marshall boys track and field team finished section at the Section 2AA True Team meet on Tuesday at Bob Bonk Track, while the Tiger girls placed fourth.

On the boys side, Marshall compiled a team score of 461.5, trailing only Belle Plaine’s 469 and putting them one spot ahead of third-place Fairmont’s 454.5 On the girls side, the Tigers finished with 398, trailing St. Peter’s 521, Tri-City United’s 455 and Fairmont’s 419. The Tigers also finished just ahead of Jordan’s 380 in the 10-team field.

Alex Franson and Keagen Anderson swept the top two spots in the boys 400 meters, with Franson crossing the line at 51.27 and Anderson finishing at 51.67. Franson also won the long jump with a distance of 20-05, Colton Lindquist won the triple jump at 43-8.5 and Sam Deutz won the 1600 meters at 4:25.59.

O the girls side, Katelyn Leibfried had the Tigers’ top individual performance with a runner-up finish in the 3200 meters at 11:55.07. Taleigha Bigler and Peyton Boeck also each earned a third-place finish, with Bigler crossing the finish line at 2:18.68 in the 800 meters and Boeck at 1:00.82 in the 400.

The Marshall track and field team will next compete at Worthington on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
