MT. LAKE — Four members of the Murray County Central girls golf team placed in the top four of the second Red Rock Conference meet on Thursday, giving the Rebels a first-place finish in the event.
MCC put together a team score of 377, beating out Russell-Tyler-Ruthton’s 406, Mountain Lake Area’s 416 and Red Rock Central’s 481. Southwest Minnesota Christian, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda and Hills-beaver Creek did not field team scores.
Ava Johnson led the Rebels in fourth place, shooting a 17-over 89 in the event with a stretch of five birdies in the first six holes of the back nine.
Right behind her, Rachael Huso placed fifth at 18-over 90 while Lizzie Daniels’ 97 and Natalie Einck’s 101 put them in sixth and seventh to round out the MCC scorers.
Red Rock Central sophomore Jorga Brown was the individual winner of the event, finishing five strokes ahead of any other golfers at 11-over 83. She notched a birdie on hole 15 and parred six holes on the day.
Teigyn O’Leary tied MLA’s Nevaeh ott as the individual runner-up with 88 strokes. O’Leary had four back-nine pars and three on the front nine.
Izzy Thomas and Leah Norgaard placed 10th and 11th for RTR at 105 and 106 while Jenna Gossen finished in 15th with 107 strokes.
Cadey Brown posted the low round for HLOF/WWG, shooting a 101 to tie Einck.
RTR, MCC, HLOF/WWG and RRC return to action at Red Rock Conference meet No. 3 at Slayton Country Club on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

ADRIAN — Kaden Landsman was the top individual at the boys Red Rock Conference meet No. 2 on Thursday at Adrian Country Club, representing the Murray County Central Rebels with an individual runner-up finish.
Landsman tied Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton’s Kade Fey with an 11-over 83, highlighted by five back-9 pars and another three on the front 9. Only Philip Vander Lugt of SWC/E posted a lower round.
SWC/E won the meet with a team score of 336, followed by Mountain Lake Area at 340 and Hills-Beaver Creek at 360.
Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove placed fourth at 361, MCC finished two strokes behind them and Red Rock Central and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton placed sixth and seventh at 401 and 412.
Neil Kuehl led HLOF/WWG, tying MLA’s Maxton Fast, Braydon Oakland, Aidan Olson and HBC’s Maddox Metzger for fourth at 84 strokes. Kuehl notched a birdie on holes 6 and 12, and also recorded five pars.
Kuehl’s teammates Dominic Lee and Mason Ommen also placed 16th ant 18th at 91 and 92 strokes, respectively.
RTR’s Jonah Nordgaard placed 15th in the 46-golfer event with 90 strokes while Colten Thomsen finished one stroke behind him in 16th.
RRC was led by Keagan Steen’s 18th place finish, tied with MCC’s Jett Veldhuisen with 92 strokes each, while MCC’s Lucas Kuball and HLOF/WWG’s Kellen Hollahan placed 21st and 22nd at 93 and 94.
RTR, MCC, HLOF/WWG and RRC will next compete on Tuesday at Red Rock Conference meet No. 3 at Rolling Hills Golf Club in Westbrook at 2 p.m.
