Ehlers’ 3rd place finish helps Tigers take 4th in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD — Luke Ehlers put together a third-place individual finish at the St. Cloud Boys Golf Invitational at St. Cloud Country Club on Thursday to lead the Marshall Tigers to a fourth-place team finish at the 19-team event.
Ehlers carded a 1-over 73 on the day to tie Staples-Motley’s Carter White, Breck’s Jack Drawz and Bemidji’s Beckett Grand for third place in the 113-golfer event. Ehlers got off to a hot start after birdieing each of his first two holes — holes 9 and 10 — and added another pair of birdies on holes 17 and 2. He finished the day with nine pars.
The Tigers compiled a team score of 311, tying St. Cloud Cathedral for fourth place while sitting one stroke back of third-place Breck School. Benilde-St. Margaret’s won the event at 293, followed by Wayzata at 309.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s had the events top two individuals, with Colin Hastings and Braydon Pulcanio tying for first place at 1-under 71.
Marshall sophomore also put together a top-20 round in the highly competitive field, shooting a 5-over 77. Wing had a seven-hole stretch starting on hole 11 in which he recorded a par or better on each hole, including birdies on holes 11 and 15.
Jaylen Koster put together another quality round for the Tigers, placing 45th at 8-over 80 with two birdies and seven pars, while eighth grader Elijah Winn placed 50th to round out the Tigers’ scorers with a 9-over 82. Between holes 4 and 10, Winn recorded a par or better on each with birdies on 4 and 9.
While not contributing to the team score, Ethan Wendorff shot a 13-over 81 to place 50th while Xander Antony finished in 108th place with a 23-over 95.
The Marshall boys golf team will next compete at the Big South Conference Championship at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton on Monday at 10 a.m.
Webskowski places 6th to lead Marshall girls in St. Cloud
ST. CLOUD — Dayton Webskowski placed sixth out of 93 individuals at the St. Cloud Girls Golf Invitational on Thursday at St. Cloud Country Club. Her play helped the Marshall Tigers place sixth out of 14 qualifying teams at the event.
The Tigers compiled a team score of 369, leaving them three strokes behind fifth-place Pierz and one stroke ahead of seventh-place Monticello. Willmar won the event with a team score of 335, followed by St. Michael-Albertville at 343, Sartell at 349 and St. Cloud Crush at 351.
Webskowski shot a 10-over 82 at the event, highlighted by a pair of birdies on holes 2 and 4. She recorded nine pars in the event.
St. Michael-Albertville freshman Abigail Labrador was the individual winner at 1-over 73, followed by Sartell’s Gwen Latunski with 76 strokes and Willmar’s Kennedy Mara with 77 strokes.
Grace Rokeh was Marshall’s No. 2 golfer on the day, tying Chanhassen’s Katelyn O’Brien and Willmar’s Lily Jorgenson at 20-over 92, including five pars and a hole-8 birdie.
Ali Pederson and Isabella Gossen rounded out the Tiger scorers, placing 42nd with 96 strokes and 49th with 99 strokes, respectively.
Pederson notched a birdie on hole 12 and recorded three pars, though a 5-over on the par-5 15th hole skewed her score. Gossen, meanwhile, birdied her first hole of the day — hole 4 — and recorded another par on the fifth hole.
Anna Thor and Maddi Panka also competed at the meet, shooting a 102 to place 59th and a 112 to place 84th.
The Marshall girls golf team will next compete at the Big South Conference Championship at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club in Morton on Monday at 10 a.m.
