COTTONWOOD — The Canby/Minneota track and field team finished as the Section 3A girls runner-up at the Section 3A True Team meet at Lakeview High School on Monday. The Lancers put together a team score of 653.5, trailing only Luverne’s 767.5 and finishing right ahead of Redwood Valley’s 611.

On the boys side, Murray County Central led area schools in third place at 604.5, finishing behind Luverne at 649 and Redwood Valley at 629.

Lakeview placed seventh on the girls side with 396 points, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton tied Windom for ninth at 323, and Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Murray County Central rounded out the girls results in 11th and 13th at 322.5 and 159.5.

TMB’s boys team placed seventh at 381, followed by Lakeview in eighth at 364.5. WWG/RRC placed 11th at 269 and Canby/Minneota placed 12th at 234.

Mya Pesek and Jordyn Jostock each had individual wins for the Canby/Minneota girls, with Pesek finishing the 800 meters in 2:31.05 and Jostock completing the 300-meter hurdles in 50.8 seconds. The Lancers also got a runner-up finish from Claire Stoks in the 400 at 1:01.59 and a runner-up finish in the high jump from Karlie Wollum at 5-00.

Aidan Swenhaugen won the 200 meters for the TMB boys in 22.92 and won the high jump at 6-02, while also placing third in the 100 meters at 11.86. Cade Swenhaugen, meanwhile, won the 300-meter hurdles in 41.47. He was also the 110-meter hurdles runner-up, trailing WWG/RRC’s Bowen Hesse’s time of 16.56.
