Munson earns first-place finish for TMB at Windom

TMB at Windom triangular

WINDOM — Alex Munson was the top individual for the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys golf team in its meet at Windom Country Club on Tuesday night. The senior Panther shot a meet-best 5-over 41, highlighted by a birdie on hole 7, to beat runner-up Tavin Miller of Jackson County Central by two strokes.

On the girls side, Taylor Munson placed third as an individual at 15-over 51, including a birdie on hole 1. She finished only behind Windom’s Ada and Ali Lund, who shot a 44 and 49, respectively.

TMB didn’t field a team score on either side of the meet. Windom defeated Jackson County Central 209-223 on the girls side while JCC defeated Windom 181-185 on the boys side.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton will next hit the links on Thursday for a Camden Conference South meet at Granite Run Golf Course on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

RTR at RRC dual

SANBORN — The Red Rock Central boys golf team outlasted Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at a dual at Farmers Golf and Health Club on Tuesday. The Falcons claimed each of the meet’s top three spots to beat out RTR 213-232.

Freshman Max Erickson had the low score of the day, shooting a 13-over 49. He was 6-over after his second hole but calmed down from there to finish his round with three pars.

Brekken Determan also took second for RRC at 16-over 52 while eighth grader Kullen Steen shot a 54 to tie RTR’s Colten Thomsen for third place. Freshmen Henry Stavnes and Isac Grant rounded out the RRC scorers in a tie for sixth place with 58 strokes.

Jonah Norgaard placed fifth in the event for RTR with a 56 on the day.

On the girls side, RRC’s lone individual, Jorga Brown, had the low round with an 8-over 44, including pars on two of her first three holes. Jenna Gossen led RTR with a 49 while Leah Norgaard shot a 51.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton plays again on Thursday in a triangular against Sleepy Eye United and New Ulm Cathedral at Sleepy Eye Golf Club at 4:15 p.m. 

Red Rock Central will golf against Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey and Hills-Beaver Creek at Mountain Lake Golf Course on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

MLAC at HLOF/WWG dual

WESTBROOK — Neil Kuehl and Mason Ommen led the Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda boys golf team to victory against Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey on Tuesday at Rolling Hills Golf Club. The Coyote duo took the dual’s top two spots to help HLOF/WWG claim a 176-182 win.

Kuehl won the meet as an individual with a 4-over 40, including a birdie on the final hole. Ommen also shot a 7-over 43 with a birdie on hole 5.

Brady Madison and Connor Jackels rounded out HLOF/WWG’s scorers, with Madison shooting a 45 to place fifth and Jackels shooting a 48 to place seventh.

Mountain Lake was led by Aidan Olson, who tied Ommen for second.

Westbrook-Walnut Grove will next have its boys team compete on Friday in the Worthington Trojan Invite at Great Life Golf and Fitness at 1 p.m.

MCC at Pipestone Area triangular

PIPESTONE — Ava Johnson, Rachael Huso claimed each of the top three spots for the Murray County Central girls golf team at a triangular at Pipestone Country Club on Tuesday night. MCC fielded a team score of 189 while neither Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian nor Pipestone Area fielded a full girls team score.

Johnson shot a 7-over 43 on the day, including pars on each of her final three holes, while Huso shot an 8-over 44 with a par on her fourth and final holes to place second. Lizzie Daniels also had a par on hole 7 and finished at 13-over 49 to place third.

Vivian Brockberg and Jaelyn Fick led Pipestone and E/SWC by each shooting a 50 while Natalie Einck was MCC’s final scorer with a 53.

On the boys side, MCC’s 191 was good for third place behind E/SWMC’s 173 and Pipestone’s 184.

Jett Veldhuisen and Lucas Kuball led the MCC boys with a 46 and 47, respectively. Pipestone’s Max Taubert won the meet individually with a 39.

Murray County Central will next go to Jackson Golf Club for a dual against Jackson County Central on Thursday at 4 p.m.
