Marshall girls claim home victory

MARSHALL — The Marshall girls golf team picked up a win in a Big South Division meet at Marshall Golf Club on Tuesday. The Tigers put four golfers in the top 6 individual spots of the 40-player event, finishing with a team score of 184 in the seven-team event.

St. Peter was the team runner up with a score of 207 while Waseca and Worthington placed third and fourth at 210 and 212.

Dayton Webskowski led Marshall on the day, pulling well ahead of the field. She carded a 4-over 40 on the day, putting her seven strokes ahead of any other golfers, with a pair of birdies on holes 2 and 3.

Maddi Panka tied St. Peter’s Madison Roasche for second place with 47 strokes on the day. Panka’s round was highlighted by a hole 7 birdie and a pair of pars.

Grace Rokeh tied Waseca’s Mia Kanewischer for fourth place with 48 strokes while Anna Thor and Isabella Gossen tied for sixth place at 49 to round out Marshall’s team scorers.

Ali Pederson also placed 12th for Marshall, tying Belle Plaine’s Sophia Kruschke, St. Peter’s Ashlyn Loula and Worthington’s Claire Meyer with 52 strokes.

Marshall next competes on Friday, May 2 at 1 p.m. when it competes at the Fairmont Girls Varsity Invitational at Interlaken Golf Club in Fairmont.

Lakers win both sides of Camden South meet

COTTONWOOD — The Lakeview boys and girls golf teams each claimed home victories when it hosted Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, Minneota, Canby and Yellow Medicine East for a Camden Conference South meet at Cottonwood Country Club on Tuesday. The Laker boys edged past Canby, 167-171, while the girls tallied 213 strokes as the only qualifying team in the field. 

Minneota and YME placed third and fourth on the boys side with 180 and 191 strokes, while Renville County West and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton didn’t field team scores.

While the Panthers didn’t place as a team, Alex Munson represented the Panther boys well with an individual first-place finish. He carded an even-par 36, recording a par or better on each of his final six holes with birdies on holes 6 and 7.

The dynamic duo of Carson Boe and Lane Arends placed second and third with a 37 and 39. Like Munson, Boe also shot a par or better on each of his final six holes with a birdie on hole 8 while Arends holed seven pars on the day.

Canby’s Jack Abrahamson tied Arends and RCW’s Ryan Schrupp for third, birdieing his final hole. The Lancers also had Daven VanEngen, Isaac Bollerud and Lane Citrowske tie for ninth to round out their scoring members with 44 strokes each.

Lakeview’s Ledgen Javens tied Minneota’s Owen Dalager for seventh place with 42 strokes while Trevor Tusberg rounded out the Laker scorers in 18th place with 49 strokes.

Cooper McCosh led the YME boys in sixth place in the field of 29 with 41 strokes.

On the girls side, Lauren Boe and Nora Forslund led Lakeview in second and third with 49 and 50 strokes respectively. Cydney Manning and Jersey Stensrud rounded out the Lakeview scorers in sixth and 10th with 54 strokes for Manning and 60 for Stensrud.

Canby’s Maddison Richter was the girls individual winner with 45 strokes, including a pair of pars on her final two holes. The Lancers also had Jayda Namken and Karli Weber place sixth and eighth with 54 and 55 strokes.

TMB’s Taylor Munson placed fourth with 51 strokes while Minneota was led by Ava Panka in fifth with 53 strokes.

Minneota, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, Canby, Yellow Medicine East and Lakeview will golf again on Friday when they travel to Stoney Brook Golf Course on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
