Blackjacks shut out Lac qui Parle Valley

MADISON — Tygan Long and Nate Hansen pitched a combined shutout for the Dawson-Boyd baseball team on Tuesday against Lac qui Parle Valley. The Blackjacks’ stellar mound performances gave them a 2-0 Camden Conference victory over the Eagles.
Long threw the game’s first six scoreless innings, striking out nine batters while allowing four hits and a pair of walks. Hansen came in for the save with a perfect seventh inning, striking out each of the three batters he faced.
Kameron Sather hit a triple in the game’s first at-bat and scored the go-ahead run on a Tygan Long single.
Sather reached base three times in the game with the triple and two walks. Long and Aedyn Dahl each also logged a single and a walk.
Beau Johnson scored the game’s lone other run when he walked to start the sixth and eventually scored on an error by the LQPV catcher.
Dawson-Boyd (5-2) gets right back to action when it hosts Benson (6-3) today at 4:30 p.m.
MACCRAY 7, TMB 5
MILROY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton baseball team fell just short to MACCRAY Tuesday evening at Yankee Field, suffering a 7-5 loss in a Camden Conference game.
The Wolverines held a 5-3 lead going into the sixth inning, until the Panthers tied it up with a pair of runs to even up the score heading into the final frame.
David Schuh and Trevor Smith accounted for the two runs, scoring with the bases loaded with a walk and Brody Hauger infield single.
But, MACCRAY returned the favor with scoring two runs in the seventh off an RBI single and tagged third base to home off an outfield fly, and held the Panthers scoreless in their final at-bat.
Griffin Zick pitched the first 3 1/3 innings for TMB, throwing five strikeouts and one walk while allowing five hits and three earned runs.
Schuh pitched for one inning, with one strikeout, two walks and two earned runs, while Connor Lanoue finished the final 2 2/3 innings on the mound with a trio of strikeouts and walks, and two earned runs.
TMB recorded 15 hits and no errors, to MACCRAY’s 10 hits and one error.
Aiden Sanow led the team offensively, with three hits and two RBIs.
Smith accounted for a team-high two runs.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (5-5) heads to Sunburg for its next game against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (2-8) on Thursday at 5 p.m.
CMC 8, Canby 6
PRINSBURG — The Canby baseball team’s seventh-inning rally fell shy against Central Minnesota Christian on Tuesday as the Lancers dropped a Camden Conference matchup against the Bluejays by a score of 8-6.
Canby allowed a pair of first-inning runs but rallied right back in the top of the second. Will Abrahamson got the Lancers on the board when he hit a triple before scoring on a wild pitch. Jaxon Groenhoff then walked, advanced to second on a Jace Rangaard single and scored the tying run on a Dyllon Christianson ground out.
The Bluejays scored another run in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take a commanding 8-3 lead heading into the final frame, though Canby rallied to make it competitive.
Eli Greenman kicked off the Lancers’ final turn at bat with a one-out walk and Cash Antony singled. Greenman scored on a passed ball and, with two outs, Sigler and Tol hit consecutive RBI singles. Abrahamson then singled to put the tying run on first, but a ground out ended the game.
Sigler led the Lancers with three hits, including a double, while Morgen Tol and Abrahamson each also notched a pair of hits.
The Lancers claimed their first lead in the third inning. Cody Stoll singled and scored on another single by Tol, but CMC answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to stake a 4-3 advantage.
Tol allowed three earned runs and one unearned run over 3 2/3 innings of work on the hill. He struck out a pair of batters while giving up six hits and five walks.
In relief, Stoll gave up four earned runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 frames.
Canby (2-3) returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Dawson-Boyd (4-2) at 4:30 p.m.
RRC/WWG 8, RTR 3
RUTHTON — The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove baseball team held on to a one-run lead before finishing the night off with a four-run seventh inning to earn an 8-3 victory over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Tuesday evening in a Red Rock Conference matchup.
Both teams finished with five hits, but the Knights committed three errors to the Falcons’ one.
RTR got on the board first with a first-inning run, however RRC/WWG responded with four over the next three innings before the Knights could cut back into the deficit with two more runs in the fifth inning, trailing 4-3.
For RTR, Kolby Louwagie and Gavin Schreurs split the game up evenly on the mound. Louwagie started the first 3 1/3 innings, and finished with five strikeouts, four walks and two earned runs.
Schreurs came in for relief and threw eight strikeouts with one walk and two earned runs.
RRC/WWG’s Hudsen Jenniges was in the circle for 4 2/3 innings, and threw a game-high nine strikeouts with four walks and three earned runs.
Jordan Therkilsen led the Falcons with a pair of RBIs and two hits, and Jake Erickson had a game-high three runs.
Chase Christianson had two RBIs to lead the Knights.
Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (9-3) heads to Slayton for its next game on Thursday against Murray County Central (6-1). First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m.
Red Rock Central (6-3) remains on the road for its next game, a Friday matchup against Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey (0-6) scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
MCC 9, Adrian/Ellsworth 2
ADRIAN — Dugan Kluis struck out 10 batters and Teague Meyer went 4-for-5 at the plate to help the Murray County Central baseball team earn a 9-2 win with nine hits over Adrian/Ellsworth Tuesday night in a Red Rock Conference matchup.
Kluis pitched the first six innings, allowing two earned runs and two walks. Meyer relieved him for the final inning, throwing for a strikeout.
Meyer led the team offensively with his four hits, resulting in a team-high three runs, while both Dylan Kluis and Dugan shared a team-best three RBIs.
Both Dylan and Dugan along with Meyer recorded doubles on the night as well.
MCC finished with one error, to A/E’s four hits and three errors.
After a scoreless first two innings for both teams, the Rebels took a 4-0 lead in the third inning, bringing in another pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth, and their final run in the seventh.
A/E scored both of their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Murray County Central (7-1) gets back to its home field on Thursday when it hosts Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (9-3) at 4:30 p.m.
NUC 15, Wabasso 4 (5 inn.)
WABASSO — The New Ulm Cathedral offense was too much for the Wabasso baseball team to contain in a Tuesday night Tomahawk Conference matchup. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first inning and cruised to a 15-4 win in five innings.
Trailing 15-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Rabbits made one last push to extend the game. A Joe Rohlik bunt and walks to Jayden Remiger and Drew Kemp loaded the bases with no outs. Caden Frericks drove in one run with a walk, Jaxson Wagner drove in another when he grounded into a double play, and Calvin Hanna reached on an error to push across a third. Yet, a strikeout ended the inning with Wabasso two runs shy of forcing a sixth.
Remiger, Kemp and Wagner each had a pair of singles on the day, with Remiger and Kemp each also reaching on a walk.
Hanna was charged with the loss for the Rabbits, allowing three earned and three unearned runs while getting two outs in his start.
Remiger scored the Rabbits’ first run when he hit a leadoff single, advanced to third on singles from Kemp and Wagner, and scored on a wild pitch. Yet, The Rabbits scored another pair of runs in the next half-inning to take an 8-1 lead and bolstered that further with six fourth-inning runs.
Wabasso (1-9) will look to get back in the win column when it goes on the road to take on Sleepy Eye (5-4) on Thursday at 5 p.m.
YME 10, RCW 2
SACRED HEART — Eric Jimenez pitched for nine strikeouts and Drew Monson hit an RBI triple to help the Yellow Medicine East baseball team defeat Renville County West 10-2 Tuesday evening in a Camden Conference matchup.
YME recorded nine hits with no errors, while RCW finished with six hits and four errors.
Jimenez was in the circle the entire night, also throwing two walks with two earned runs.
Monson sparked the Stings’ offense in the second inning with bases loaded with a triple fly ball to center field, running in Fredeen, Gavin Torvik and Lane Wohlman a part of YME’s four-run second inning to earn an early lead.
The Jaguars scored their two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning while YME’s offense remained consistent through the night.
Torvik also accounted for three RBIs, while Jacob Peterson led the Sting with a trio of hits, going 3-for-4 at the plate.
Yellow Medicine East (5-3) returns to Granite Falls on Thursday to host Ortonville (1-4) at 4:30 p.m.
