Tigers shutout Worthington, Arndt leads Vikings past Lakeview

WORTHINGTON — Blake Grimsley and Luke Ehlers each netted a hat trick performance in the Marshall boys hockey shutout 11-0 win Tuesday night on the road.
Marshall handled the ice from the jump, and recorded five goals in each of the first and second period. The Tigers overall finished with 34 shots on goal to Worthington’s 18.
Along with Grimsley and Ehlers’ trio of goals, Nate Drown scored a pair, while Aiden Reinhart, Jacob Allen and Owen Renslow each tallied one.
Tyler Welsh had a team-high four assists as well, while Renslow tallied another three.
Nathan Lenz spent the night in the net, finishing with a 100% save percentage.
Allen got the night started with Marshall’s first goal on a power play at the 7:50 mark in the first period. Grimsley netted his first one in two minutes later on even strength, while Ehlers had the next two.
The Tigers never let up off the gas with their early 5-0 lead, and continued to control the ice the rest of the night.
Grimsley scored the final goal in the third period at 9:03 on even strength.
There were 14 penalties assessed throughout the game, eight belonging to Worthington. All were minor.
Marshall moves to 11-13 overall on the season, and will next host Waseca (17-3) for its final regular season home game on Saturday at 2:45 p.m.

Minneota 59, Lakeview 38
MINNEOTA — Kyson Arndt’s double-double 11 points and 16 rebound performance powered the Minneota boys basketball team to a 59-38 win over Lakeview Tuesday night at home. The loss marks five straight for the Lakers.
Lincoln Jerzak led the Vikings with 16 points, while Lucas Rybinkski also finished with 11 points and a game-high eight steals.
Minneota’s defense shined in the win, with 20 steals to Lakeview’s 10, and forced 32 Laker turnovers. The Vikings had 23 turnovers themselves.
Minneota shot 40% from the field, and held Lakeview to 25%.
Carson Boe led the Lakers with 12 points, and Braylon Breyfogle followed with 8. Boe, Breyfogle and Cody Helmke all shared a team-high seven rebounds.
Lakeview (8-13) returns to Cottonwood on Thursday to host Murray County Central (11-0) at 5:30 p.m.
Minneota (9-13) travels to Renville for a matchup against Renville County West (11-5) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
No. 9 Cedar Mountain 82, Wabasso 80
WABASSO — The Wabasso boys basketball team fell in an 82-80 heartbreaker to No. 9 Cedar Mountain Tuesday night at home. Caden Frericks led the Rabbits with 24 points and 13 rebounds, while Brayden Guetter had another double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds, along with a team-high eight assists.
Wabasso had a 45-44 lead at halftime, but its 20 turnovers to Cedar’s 13 was the difference maker.
Calvin Hanna also tallied 20 points and went 6 for 10 from the 3-point line, and Drew Kemp was the fourth player to finish in double figures with 12 points.
The Rabbits finished with an impressive 23 assists on the night.
Wabasso (13-9) hits the road on Thursday for a matchup against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (7-13) at 7:15 p.m.
TMB 80, Canby 57
TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton boys basketball team won its seventh straight game with an 80-57 victory over Canby Tuesday night. Both Alex Munson and Trevor Smith tallied 21 points to power the win, and Griffin Zick tallied another 11.
The Panthers built up a 43-29 halftime lead, and continued to cruise through the second half and didn’t allow the Lancers to come within reach.
TMB overall shot 46% from the field and went 8 for 27 from the arc. Canby was limited to a 29% field goal shooting night, and went 5 for 30 from the 3-point line.
Munson also distributed a team-high six assists for the Panthers, while Taylor Swenhaugen led with eight rebounds.
For Canby, Jace Rangaard led with a double-double of 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Owen Peterson followed with 12 points while Jack Abrahamson tallied 11. Casey Hoiland had three steals on the night as well.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (19-4) will look to earn its eighth consecutive win on Friday when it heads to Granite Falls for a matchup against Yellow Medicine East (2-21) at 7:30 p.m.
RCW 81, YME 57
RENVILLE — The Yellow Medicine East boys basketball team suffered its 16th consecutive loss on the road Tuesday night, and fell to Renville County West 81-57.
The Sting only faced an 8-point deficit at half, 38-30, however RCW outscored YME 43-27 in the second half to put the game away.
Wakinyan GreyCloud led YME with 23 points, and made a trio of 3-pointers. Gavin Torvik followed with 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The Sting overall shot 36% from the field, and 28% from the 3-point line.
Yellow Medicine East (2-21) aims to avoid its 17th straight loss on Friday when it welcomes Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (19-4) into Granite Falls at 7:30 p.m.
No. 2 Dawson-Boyd 105, LQPV 30
DAWSON — The No. 2 Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team cruised to a dominant 105-30 victory over LQPV Tuesday night, powered behind a 66-11 halftime lead.
Gunner Liebl, Brayson Boike and Drew Hjelmeland combined for 65 points, scoring 22, 20 and 23 respectively.
Hjelmeland shot a team-best 5 for 6 from the perimeter and 80% from the field.
Boike and Hjelmeland also finished with double-doubles, with 13 and 11 rebounds.
The Blackjacks also grabbed 47 rebounds on the night, 31 of which were defensive.
Dawson-Boyd shot 62% from the field, and 35% from the arc.
Dawson-Boyd (18-3) looks to extend its win streak to nine straight games when it hosts Central Minnesota Christian (18-4) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
MCC 67, RRC 34
LAMBERTON — Aidan Swenson and Gavin Gillette combined for 27 points to lead the Murray County Central boys basketball team to a 67-34 win over Red Rock Central Tuesday night at home.
Swenson led with 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Gillette tallied 12, along with a team-best five steals and three assists.
The Rebels finished the night shooting 41% from the field, and limited RRC to just 19%.
Murray County Central (12-9) heads to Cottonwood for its next game against Lakeview (8-13) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Red Rock Central (3-18) plays the second of four consecutive home games on Thursday, hosting Madelia (17-4) at 6 p.m.
