Tiger girls finish 5th in Mankato East Invite
NORTH MANKATO — The No. 7 Marshall girls cross country team picked up a fifth-place finish at the Mankato East Invitational on Wednesday afternoon, finishing with a team total of 131 points behind Katelyn Leibfried’s top-10 finish.
Leibfried, a sophomore, placed seventh as an individual, crossing the finish line at 20:02.2.
Marshall’s score tied it with St. Louis Park for fifth place. Marshall came out with the tiebreakers, however, as its No. 6 runner, Madysson Hasert, took 58th place in the field of 82 at 23:09.1. St. Louis Park’s No. 6, Ellie Minnick, placed 65th at 23:37.5.
Freshman Landrey Graven was the second finisher for Marshall, clocking in at 20:26.6 to take 16th place.
Seventh grader Jasmine Murphy put together a big performance for Marshall, taking 27th place at 20:58.4, while Kaitlyn Soupir placed 36th at 21:37.3.
Ayanna Flowers was Marshall’s No. 5 runner at 22:18.9, giving the eighth grader a 45th place finish.
Marshall will next compete on Tuesday, when it travels to Minn-Iowa Golf Course in Elmore for the Big South Conference Championship. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
