All-Star arms head to Essig

Area pitchers well-represented in Saturday’s Corn Belt-Tomahawk All-Star game

ESSIG — The Corn Belt and Tomahawk East Leagues will host their annual All-Star game in Essig on Saturday, with the Raymond and New Ulm leading their respective leagues in selections.

The Raymond Rockets led all teams with six all-star selections, including Tyler Steen, Isaac Call, Eli Nelson, Caleb Ditmarson, Mike Jeseritz and Herman Solomon. The Marshall A’s, Milroy Yankees, Wabasso Jaxx and Willmar Rails each earned another three All-Star nods.

For the A’s, Wes Sarsland, Peyton Grant and Mitch Bouwman are headed to Essig. Marshall-native Parker Schmitt will also represent the Milroy Yankees in the All-Star game, along with Jake Tauer and David Schmidt.

The Wabasso Jaxx will be represented by Joe Liebl, CJ Theis and Adryen Tietz while the Willmar Rails will be represented by Jack Baumgart, Zach Reierson and Ashton Gregory.

The Bird Island Bullfrogs will send Dylan Gass and Casey Lewandowski, the Granite Falls Kilowatts will send Nikson and Bennet Knapper, and the Sacred Heart Saints will send Jack Howard and Jose Ortiz.

The Cornbelt League will be managed by Butch Steen with assistants Zach Nelson and John Sawatzky, all from Raymond. 

The New Ulm Brewers will be represented by Ayden Jensen, Justin Hoffmann and Cole Randweiler. Other selections will be Carter Lang and Teddy Giefer from the Courtland Cubs, Austin Uecker and Jackson Huiras from the Leavenworth Orioles, Kevin Larson and Tanner Olson from the Hanska Lakers, and Jordan Milbrath and Decker Scheffler from the Springfield Tigers. Sean Mathiowetz and Nick Labat will represent the Stark Longhorns, and Nick Stadick and Erick Scheibel will represent the Essig Bluejays. Noah Wilmes and Mark Schommer of the Searles Grizzlies will attend, as will Luke Mielke and Jake Mielke of the Sleepy Eye Indians, Jacob Brey and Lucas Anderson of the St. James Athletics, Andrew Peterson of the Fairfax Cardinals, Will Carlson of the Lamberton Long Sox, and Josh Wasmund of the Gibbon Reds. 

New Ulm’s Al Flor will manage the team alongside Stark’s Dusty Mangen.

The All-Star Game will begin at 4 p.m. in Essig on Saturday.
