The Big South Conference announced its boys basketball All-Conference teams on Monday morning. The teams were divided into three divisions — Red, White and Blue — with seven All-Conference selections and three honorable mentions each. Marshall’s Alex Franson was selected to the All-Conference team while Cooper Mensink was acknowledged as an honorable mention.

The Big South’s White Division also includes New Ulm, St. Peter and Worthington. New Ulm’s Colton Benson, James Osborne and Nathan Firle were also selected to the first team, as were St. Peter’s Josh Bosacker and Worthington’s Zachary Hayenga and Kaleb Knothe.

St. Peter’s Owen Potts and Worthignton’s Jacari Swinea were the two honorable mentions along with Mensink.

Franson, a junior, was the only non-senior selected to the Big South White team. Franson led Marshall with 18.4 points per game on the season on a 51.8% effective field goal percentage. His 53 assists and 81 steals on the year were also both team-highs.

Mensink was the Tigers’ primary 3-point shooter on the season, knocking down 71 shots from beyond the arc on a 35.7% clip. Mensink averaged 15.1 points per game in his junior season along with a team-leading 100 rebounds on the season.

The selections marked the first time Franson and Mensink received All-Conference honors.

Marshall finished the season third in the White division with a 2-4 record. Worthington and New Ulm led the pack at 5-1 each while St. Peter finished fourth at 0-6.

The Tigers put together a 9-18 record on the season and fell to No. 10 Mankato West in the Section quarterfinals on March 6.
