Area wrestlers competed on Day 1 of the Class AA and Class A Individual Wrestling Tournaments in St. Paul on Friday. Marshall’s Dylan Louwagie, Lincoln Christenson and Landon Marthaler are among the individuals who are still alive in the championship bracket going into Day 2 at Xcel Energy Center

The Marshall boys wrestling team sent seven wrestlers to the first day of the Class AA individual wrestling tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Friday. Of those seven, three advanced to the championship bracket semifinals today while another four are still alive in the consolation bracket.
Lincoln Christenson, Landon Marthaler and Dylan Louwagie all still have their hopes alive for a state title. In 107, Christenson pinned No. 10 Tucker Gould in the first round and picked up a 4-3 decision against No. 3 Boston Kuschel in the quarterfinals. He’ll match up against another top-ranked opponent in No. 2AA Logan Refsnider of Totino-Grace in the semifinals.
Marthaler, ranked No. 8 in Class AA, topped No. 7 Vicente Lopez-Marsh in his first-round matchup via 6-2 decision and defeated No. 5 Raydon Graham in the quarterfinals. He’ll match up against Totino-Grace’s No. 2 Jackson Refsnider in the semifinals.
After finishing as the state runner-up last year, Louwagie is well on pace to get over the hump for the state title in his senior season. The top-ranked Class AA wrestler in 133 picked up wins by major decision in each of his first two matches, defeating Aidan Graner in the first round and No. 10 Chandler Mickelson in the quarterfinals. He’s slated to face No. 5 Alex Lehman of Grand Rapids in the semifinals.
In addition to the Marshall boys wrestlers, No. 8 Hannah Ratajczak will be making her state tournament debut when she takes on No. 4 Alley Altringer in the 142 girls quarterfinals today.
Brayden Chandler, No. 5 Tate Condezo and Aidan Mattison will all continue to compete in the consolation bracket with the potential to finish as high as third. Chandler will face Michael Amos of Chisago Lakes in 152, Condezo will take on No. 7 Nate Berchtold of South St. Paul and Aidan Mattison will face off against No. 6 Danny Martin of Simley.

Daniel Gunlogson and Brady Rhode each won their first two matches for Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley/Montevideo United at the Class AA individual wrestling tournament on Friday to advance to the state semifinals today.
Gunlogson, ranked No. 4 in Class AA, defeated Sinko Vukas by major decision in the first round and edged out Tony Baumann for a 5-3 decision in the second.
No. 3 Brady Rhode won by technical fall against Clayton Danielson in the opener and pinned No. 6 Samuel Winkels in the quarterfinals.
Gunlogson will face off against Mound Westonka’s top-ranked Jack Nelson in the semifinals while Brady Rhode will wrestle with No. 5 Logan Bender out of Chisago Lakes.
Seventh-ranked Kameron Sather will also take on No. 4 Jonah Coleman of Kasson-Mantorville in the consolation quarterfinals. Coleman defeated Sather via 7-2 decision in Kasson-Mantorville’s win over United in the first round of the team tournament on Thursday.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove’s reigning state champion Devin Carter is looking to go back-to-back as he — along with teammate Alex Schuh — advanced to the semifinals after the first day of the Class A state individual wrestling tournament.
Carter, ranked No. 2 in Class A in his weight class, came up with wins by decision over Orran Hart and Jeremiah Bien to start the tournament. He’ll face No. 5 Owen Gruchow of West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville in the semifinals.
Schuh also won each of his first two matches via decision, taking down Jude Olson by a score of 11-5 in the first round before defeating No. 3 William Pilarski in overtime in the quarterfinals, 9-7. He’ll take on Nolan Ambrose, ranked No. 1 in 139, in the semifinals.
David Schuh and Eathan Martinez will each continue to compete in the consolation bracket in Day 2 today with the hope of capturing third place. Schuh will take on Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale-Parkers Prairie’s Justin Olson in the consolation quarterfinals while Martinez will prepare to face off against Holdingford’s No. 3 Jaxon Bartkowicz.

In the first day of individual competition, No. 4 Eli Greenman defeated Luis Lopez and No. 6 Ian Phrakonkham by decision in 121. Wagner, ranked No. 6 in Class A, defeated Jeremy Blascyk and No. 8 Hank Meyer to advance to the individual semifinals.
Greenman will face No. 1 Zach Remer of Mille Lacs in the semifinals while Wagner will take on Chatfield’s top-ranked Kail Schott.
After defeating No. 2 Eli Kruse in his opener and falling to top-ranked Gavin Johnson in the quarterfinals, No. 8 Sam Drietz defeated Adam Lohse to stay alive in the consolation bracket.
In 285, Gavin Noyes also has consolation hopes still alive. He defeated Nick Becker before falling to the consolation bracket with a loss to top-ranked Keegan Kuball in the quarterfinals. Still, a win over Jonathan Rose allowed Noyes to advance to the consolation quarterfinals, leaving him three wins away from a third-place finish.
Noyes will take on Royalton/Upsala’s No. 4 Brandon Mugg in the consolation bracket today while Drietz will face Aitkin’s Kenny Erickson.

Lasnetski, ranked No. 5 in Class A, won by major decision over Brody Herbst in the first round before falling to Charles Ikola in the quarterfinals.
In 127, No. 6 Devlaemicnk defeated Colton Wilson before falling to No. 4 Brayden Burmeister in the quarterfinals and No. 9 Carson Petry in the first round of the consolation bracket, ending his run at states.
Lasnetski will continue to compete in the consolation bracket today when he takes on Pelican Rapids’ Danny Salazar in the Consolation quarterfinals.

Clarke fell to Charles Ikola and Kaden Lasnetski to end his run in the first round of the consolation bracket while Lewis won his first-round matchup against Saveon Rendo before falling consecutively to Drew Lang and Kane Larson.
