Tiger gymnastics ends regular season with win over St. James
ST. JAMES — Cameen McFarquhar and Jocelyn Schlenner took the top two all-around spots in the Marshall girls gymnastics team’s road dual against St. James on Thursday night, leading the Tigers to a 120.875-102.25 win in their final regular-season meet.
McFarquhar finished the night with a 34.5 all-around score while Schlenner clocked in at 28.825. Not only did they take the top two all-around spots, McFarquhar swept each event while Schlenner was the runner-up in three out of four.
McFarquhar posted a score of 8.925 on the bars, 7.775 on the beam, 9.35 on the floor and 8.925 to take first in all four events. Schlenner’s scores of 8.6 on the vault, 7.35 on the beam and 7.925 on the floor were good for second place in all three.
Also making an impact for Marshall, Kendall Walerius took home the bronze on the floor and the beam, scoring 7.4 and 7.075, while Autumn Deutz and Raya Goergen took second and third on the bars at 7.5 and 6.05.
Goergen, a freshman, also placed fifth on the floor at 7.025 while Chioma Onyeaghala’s 8.0 on the vault and 7.25 on the floor were both good for fourth-place finishes.
Marshall will now prep for its conference tournament, which will be held at Windom on Saturday, Feb. 17.
