RTR 46, Dawson-Boyd 44
DAWSON -- Russell-Tyler-Ruthton edged Dawson-Boyd 46-44 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday.
RTR was up 34-14 at half, but Dawson-Boyd made it close with a 30-point second half.
Shea O'Leary led RTR with 10 points, five rebounds and two steals, while Allyson Nelson had eight points, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Dawson-Boyd's Ayiana Hastad led the team with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Alyssa Swedzinski had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
RTR (1-0) travels to Southwest Minnesota Christian on Thursday. Dawson-Boyd (0-1) travels to MACCRAY on Friday.
Lakeview 62, HLOF 13
COTTONWOOD -- Lakeview downed Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 62-13 Tuesday in a nonconference girls basketball game.
Shelby Justesen had 15 points, five rebounds and three steals for the Lakers, while Brynn Stensrud had 14 points and two steals. Aubreigh Rausch added 10 points and three steals, while Anah Schmidt had 9 points and nine rebounds for Lakeview.
Lakeview hosts Yellow Medicine East on Friday.
BOLD 70, YME 22
OLIVIA -- BOLD defeated Yellow Medicine East 70-22 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday at BOLD high school.
Bayli Sneller led The Sting with 12 points, while Ella Cheruany had five points.
YME (0-2) travels to Lakeview on Friday.
MCC 58, TMB 41
SLAYTON – Three Murray County Central basketball players finished in double figures on Tuesday night to lead the Rebels to a 58-41 win in their season-opener against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.
Kelli Miller led the way offensively with 15 points for MCC, including 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point range, while Taylor Larson and Jayda Hellewell scored 11 and 10 points respectively. Hellewell and Larson each finished the game with five rebounds while Thea Schneider led MCC with eight boards and four assists.
Gretchen Lanoue led TMB’s offense with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting while also grabbing a game-high three steals. Aurri Johnson led the Panthers with six rebounds while Hailey Gernentz had a pair of blocks.
MCC (1-0) will go on the road to play Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda on Friday while TMB (0-1) will remain on the road to take on Renville County West.
