Marshall boys pick up win in Redwood Falls meet

REDWOOD FALLS — The Marshall boys cross country team put seven runners in the top 12 spots in a cross country meet at Redwood Falls Golf Course on Thursday night to run away with a first-place finish.

Sam Deutz was the top Tiger finisher in the 89-runner field, crossing the finish line at 16:10 to take second place. Redwood Valley’s William Ahrens won at 15:41 while his teammate Kilen Cilek took third at 16:13.

Josh Leibfried finished fifth for the Tigers at 16:43 before the real Tiger domination started. After Windom’s Thomas Green took sixth, Marshall’s Keagen Anderson, Landon Marthaler and Kohen Holcomb finished consecutively at 17:02, 17:06 and 17:14 respectively to round out the Marshall scorers.

The Tigers finished with a team score of 31 points, putting them 13 points ahead of runner-up Redwood Valley. Windom Area took third with 55 points and was the only other team in the six-team field with under 120 points.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton’s Carter Sweetman finished 25th in the meat at 18:44 while the Panthers posted a team score 155. Wabasso also competed in the meet and finished with a team score of 164.
